1.27…a Litre not gallon.
Its about 5.1 per gallon in India as well.
Not feeling so expensive now eh?
Btw, dont you guys have better choice in diesel vehicles? Works out a lot more economical overall.
I’m not worried aobut what it is over the pond
when you first started driving and it was .96/gallon 15 yrs ago, then used to $3.25/gallon on avg for a while, it sucks to think about $4-5 in your area.
so I guess Cali will be looking at $5-6/gallon
at this point robbing a tanker truck would be more valuable than an armored car

Ya we actually do, they just arent that popular here. When you get into rural areas, you will see alot diesel trucks due to their dependability and horsepower. Also, the general population doesnt know enough about them so when they see diesel being higher than gas, it turns them off.
Paid 2.97 last week here in Colorado. Not feeling the pain yet, but my wallet definitely does not like filling up my tahoe and it’s only gonna get worse.
Here are some other problems to think about due to the rise in gas prices:
the subsequent rise in the cost of food due to rising transportation costs
the rate of change in gas prices > than the rate of change in the average wage (i.e. a larger percentage of your income will be going towards the rise in gas prices, not to mention all the other necessities who’s prices will rise due to the rise in fuel costs)
and a few other issues effected by the rising fuel costs…

Definitely. Oil prices effects pretty much everything. Plastics go up and in some circumstances electricity.

Diesel vehicles in general are far more fuel efficient than petrol cars due to improvement in technology. So if you have to travel more than say 8000-12000 miles a year, you can easily recover the extra amount you pay for Diesel cars.
Although i am only speaking about India in general and the different taxes applicable here.
Aren’t hybrids and electric cars like the Volt popular there?

Yes they are gradually becoming more popular. Especially hybrids. Im not sure what the future will hold for electric vehicles. I dont have any knowledge on them so I cant say.
Paid $3.46 in the Chicago suburbs last Wednesday. Went up to $3.76 the next day. LULZ.

$4 a gallon and you’re complaining?
That’s 55 p a litre
We pay 1.35 sterling round here (about $2 and change) a LITRE so roughly $10 a gallon. Where my ex lives in the Outer Hebrides it’s 11$ a gallon. But then again our cars are a lot smaller and fuel efficient so swings and roundabouts.

Well remember that we have been spoiled with LOW gas prices for awhile. It wasnt long ago that we were bitching about gas reaching $2.

that was before Hurricane Katrina IIRC, at least 6 yrs ago
Diesel is almost as expensive as gas, and here the diesel fueled cars cost alot more than the gas fueled cars. Also, If you buy a diesel car you have to pay diesel tax every year which also is quite high. You would have to drive about 35.000km/year before it would be beneficial to drive a diesel.
Answer = Natural Gas

WAIT. There was a point within the last four decades where you could buy the equivalent of 5 litres petrol for what would translate to roughly 1pound20?
MOTHER OF GOD.
Here in Greece we are paying 1.70+ euros per liter, which is about 6,5 euros per gallon, which is about 8.7 USD. So, don’t complain if it goes up to 4 USD, it will be the half price of what we ahve here.

Probably for your region, I recall prices in mine around the $2.00 mark around 4-5 years ago. Even 3 years ago, there were still some stations at that low price. Texas has generally been inexpensive when it comes to fuel.

That would certainly help. I live in the center of the Eagle Shale operation down here in South Texas. When they come across natural gas, they just burn it up due to the lack of containment. There just isnt alot of attention toward it at the meantime. Im sure there is a reason but I wouldnt know.
