Gaming and All Its Glory

I saw something similar to Civilization called Europa Universalis IV, seems good from the outset but haven’t played it.

The Fable series was pretty good for that.

Fallout New Vegas is the best game ever. You can kill and eat every faction leader and still beat the game. Every quest has like 5 different endings.

New Vegas is good, but I’m not sure it beats Skyrim for best ever (or a couple of other titles for that matter).

Playing skyrim for the first time now. It is epic.

Ya, I’ve easily put 150 hours into Skyrim between PS3 and PS4. The only other game I’ve played that much is FallOut 3 (maybe Fall Out 4). I probably put 100 hours into New Vegas. Bethesda really makes some killer games.

Does anyone here like the Total War series? I love me some Napoleon, Medieval 2 and sometimes Shogun 2. The combination of round-based strategy with real-time battles is exactly my cup of tea.

I’ve just started playing rollercoaster tycoon 2 again, I spent hours on it when I was young. Has anyone else played it or similar simulation games?

Yeah I played a fair bit of roller-coaster tycoon and zoo tycoon. The zoo one was prob better. It had dinosaurs in it! Haha

I used to love playing Morrowind in high school…endless days. Oblivion a little bit in college. Had almost no time for Skyrim in grad school but still freaking awesome.

But stupid ‘responsibility’ limited the amount of hours, if any, I could devote these games each week. If I play games now, they are the type that you can play for a few hours a week, likely a weekend, and not feel compelled to ‘keep going’. I.E. DOOM 4 (loved this game, spent only an hour or so per day after I got my degree and finished it after 2 weeks), or Resident Evil Biohazard (would play 1 hour at night when my fiancée would get home because she loved watching me play it. Took about 1.5 months to beat that one…I died ALOT)

Started playing age of empires 2 8 months ago. It’s a pretty good game.

Bit I wish I stopped playing video games honestly.

Hours go too fast when you start to play in the evening after your day, and the next thing you know your sleep schedule is screwed.

Years go too fast too.

Anyone else have fun with Bioshock? 1 and 2 were legit, had less fun with infinity (?).

PlayerUnknowns BattleGrounds has a lot of hype behind it

I actually didn’t like them at all. I felt the same way about Dishonored even though a lot of people seem to really like all of them. I think Prey is supposed to be along those same lines.

Disliked Dishonored immensely for some reason. But the original bioshock was cool as hell to me (maybe it was the sweet diving suit of vengeance!)

Agreed on both. I couldn’t get into Dishonored at all.

Prey is okay - it’s well done and has a pretty could beginning but basically it’s just about its environment… having to spend an hour trying to figure out how to get into a room. It’s probably good once you stick with it. I gave up after a few hours - only rented it so no real loss.

One of my favorite recent games is Horizon: Zero Dawn. I think it’s the best PS4 exclusive so far. Definitely worth playing if you have a PS4.

In my defense, both my son and I use my gamertag to play - but good grief.

Chiba Warrior on XB1 if anyone ever wants to link up. Chiba is a reference to Neuromancer by William Gibson which takes place in Chiba, China. I was reading it when I got my first XBox years ago.

Lol, good lord. I can’t wait until my son is old enough to play video games with.

Sony has been killing it with exclusives. Microsoft has really fallen asleep with the XB1 release - literallly almost zero exclusives. I’m an Xbox fanboy so it’s nearly impossible to make the switch, but it’s been getting harder and harder as I see the quality games only available on PS4.

Ya, I hear you. I loved my 360, but the One has been disappointing. I play my PS4 a lot more honestly. Now Microsoft wants us to drop another $500 or whatever on an upgraded version, nah…

There are killer exclusives coming out this year too like the new God of War.
