He does. It’s heavly implied by almost everyone that sees Stannis near Melissandre. The “shadow” things Melissandre gives birth to that kills Renly and later kills the castelan of Storm’s End are shaped like Stannis, it’s Davos who hits the nail on the head when he assumes the reason why Stannis is so thin and aged is because Melissandre bangs him in order to pop out the little shadow-Stannises to do her bidding.
She even offers herself to Davos at one point if I recall, saying she dares not to make more use of Stannis because of how much she has worn him down.

I did not see it like that. Whoa.
But still I think that to come right out with it kind of takes away from the storyline, like the thing with Loras and Renly.

As a point, HBO realizes that not everyone likes subtlety or understands innuendo. A lot of what’s implied in the book would be lost on (sorry for the generalization) a lot of people who might be viewers of the show. In essence, they have to dumb it down so everyone’s on the same page as to what’s going on most of the time. Plus, I’d fuck the shit outta Melisanre and seeing her naked was very nice

Ah yes, I see your point. However, I would also postulate that the shadow birthing to kill Renly and Penrose were monumental acts of devotion, and may not have been preceded by prior consummation. I really only meant in that scene, it is not implicit… but yes it is probably true enough to the intention.
I always thought the devotion between Renly and Loras and implicit sex far exceeded that of Stannis and Melisandre though. I guess it is official now though, right?
Yarra is a stupid way to rename Asha. I heard they were trying to separate Arya and Asha, but Arya and Yarra is also confusing. Never really seen a she irate before so, I’m not qualified to contest her casting. Brienne is next.

They were trying to separate the wildling girl that hangs out with Bran and Asha Greyjoy (I forget the wildling girls name at the moment)
I really like Tyrion’s portrayal in the show though I think sometimes he seems to timid. In the books he is a legendary little fucker, barely knows how to keep his mouth shut and always talks himself into, and out of, trouble. That doesn’t come through too much in the series just yet I think.
I agree that Baelish and Jaime are great and am looking forward to some character development on screen there.
Btw: Shae is hot (Anyone catch the irony? She used to do porn)
SPOILER
Someone mentioned earlier that Cersei regained the throne. I am pretty sure that won’t be the case. It seems to me that she will enter a more or less limited civil war with the Tyrells, now that Kevan is dead.
I like how through her and Joffrey’s actions you can tell they are supposed to be related (Aggression, violence, arrogance). The thing about Cersei is she’s fading, her power and beauty both. Margaery is on the rise.
I am very interested to see how he will incorporate Daenerys in the future, as well as possibly linking her to Tyrion and both of them to Aegon.
Obviously it would also be interesting to see how the Pentoshi Magistrate and the Tattered Prince will work, I can see some conflict there in the future as the Prince obviously longs for control of Pentos.
My favorite part of the books though is admittedly Arya’s apprenticeship in Braavos.

And I think on his website Martin mentioned something about releasing book 6 in 2015…
I’m sure this has been discussed but now that season 2 has started and it’s still called “Game of Thrones” I wish they’d called the show A Song of Ice and Fire.
Sure it sounds like a book of poetry that way…but people would have quickly gotten over it.

Disagree. Game of Thrones fits the series better than ASOIAF.
I don’t really think the third book needs two seasons.
Too many people that have read a book have the conceit that that book needs a 300 hour miniseries to do it justice.
I love the series (books and TV show) dearly (I’m currently reading A Dance with Dragons) but I think it needs to move a bit faster. I mean this book I’m on now may end up being season 6 or 7 at this rate…and if George RR Martin does seven books total that could mean 10 seasons to tell the story.

And? 10 seasons of an awesome show would be torture? If they keep the pacing similar to how the show has been, I see no problem with going 10 seasons, but if they start to slow the show down for the sake of filling in episodes, I can see your point.
I don’t think more is always better. Proper plot and good pacing is more important than sheer weight of episodes.
I’ve had debates about this with people about many books.
I even read the Harry Potter books but after the 4th movie they got so slow and so long that I still haven’t seen the final movie ( I read the 7th book and it absolutely does not need two 3 hour movies to tell it)

Ok, so say it goes 10 seasons. With each season being 10 episodes, that’s 100 episodes. For the scope of the story I don’t think that’s too many episodes considering the book you’re reading was supposed to be part of the 4th book…
I get what you’re saying, but I don’t think that 10 seasons would be overblown or drawn out and I’m not one to think that they need to, or even could, cram in every little thing.

I am in the camp that’s not going to be satisfied either way. I want it to be short and fast-paced now, so that they’ll get to the major plot points faster. But after it’s over, I’ll complain that they rushed it too much and should have spent more time on character development or something.
Either way I’m just happy the show is being made and is well-received so they should keep making it. As long as HBO doesn’t pull the plug before it ends I’ll be happy.
Okay like I said before picked this back up to read, half way through Storm of Swords. I think Martin is a pretty sadistic bastard with his characters.

Yeah, he doesn’t give a fuck.[/quote]
Lol yea dont get me wrong I really enjoy the break from the mainstream. That is why I have read one of his books and then put it down for a bit. Gets kind of depressing not being able to get into a character, he fucking gets killed halfway through the book.
Yeah, there is a thing to the whole story of the world we see in A Song of Ice and Fire that makes it a nice place to visit (ie: read about) but I wouldn’t want to really live there.
I mean like in Star Trek, I’d love to be in that universe and join Starfleet. I’d love to be a part of Indiana Jones’ world. Help the rebels defeat the Empire? Sure!
I really don;t know what I’d do in Westeros or any other place. Maybe hide down in Dorne.
