Game of Thrones 2: A Clash of Kings

^^me too! It was awesome.

That’s a good possibility. The thing is John never wanted to go with the wildlings but he did it cause Halfhand ordered him. Wonder what they’ll do with that so that Johns not an actual “turncloak”

Agreed. Dany is a giant festering herpes blister of a human being though. Big disappointment with the direction her character’s gone on screen.
I’m starting to like Cersei more than Dany.

Damn you HBO

There will probably be an escape scene where only Jon and Qhorin survive and Qhorin will tell Jon to kill him to make it look like Jon was chasing Qhorin and etc.

I actually bet there will be something along those lines.

Yeah, that’s easily 6 months (or 6 years for me) worth of cardio per book. The audio version of ADWD is 49 hours long.
I recently had an hour commute each way and finished 2 of the books in like 3 months, it made the drive so much better.

6 years to finish? Thats perfect! You’d be done just in time for the next book to come out LOLOL
lol

eh, ive always liked Cersei better, at least she puts forth an effort to get the iron throne.

both stark girls are shooting up, they’ll be 6ft tall by the next season

The series is top notch despite some deviations from the source material.
Also, I like the intro visuals and the theme. I keep sitting through it (it is rather long) every episode.

Just disappointed by Harington and Headey (who I liked a lot in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles).
Also, I imagined Roose Bolton to appear colder and leaner, physically speaking. At least the actor portraying him might have a weasel-ish face.

All minor gripes, though.

As a book, Game of Thrones is at the top of my list of books I’m giving lit nerds as birthday presents. It’s funny how they start devouring it, only to be shocked by Ned Stark’s demise. Lol, no last minute divine intervention, honor and loyalty don’t seem to always pay off, after all - fuck you, romanticism lovers

lol seriously. all I ever hear from her on the series is WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS, WHO TOOK MY DRAGONS, I AM THE MOTHER OF DRAGONS, I AM OF DRAGON BLOOD, etc etc

I am enjoying how they’re giving history of the Targ bloodline, even if it’s through Arya.

And how Dany finally referred to herself as Stormborn.

Anyway, you have to remember with both Cersei and Dany, later on in the books when they have any measure of power, it’s strongly implied that they are not particularly good at wielding it. I feel like they’re seeding that in with both at this point.

Other points: I enjoyed Cersei in this episode, and like how she and Tyrion openly discussed her relationship with Jamie. Makes sense to me, because it really seems like they didn’t talk about it in the book - and she’d have no reason to lie to him.

And speaking of Jamie, what an incredible scene. The kid who played his cousin gave a great performance as well.

Shame Jorah’s so pussy whipped, otherwise I’d hope he gave Dany a good bitch slap everytime she starts yelling her crap all over again.

I think HBO is trying to make us think Vyseris was the sane Targ and Dany is the crazy Targ. She is so freaking annoying.

While it was kinda nice to see this happen between brother imp and sister bitch, it didn’t make sense for Cersei to openly admit to her incest with Jaime to Tyrion, who she hates and distrusts. Add to this he’s acting Hand. Openly admitting to such a closely guarded secret seemed tad too much to me, especially given Cersei’s lust for power.

Good point about how they’re protraying Cersei and Dany … however, I still don’t think, given how we know from A Feast for Crows, Cersei would’ve divulged the information so openly to anyone about her and Jaime … she’s paranoid and delusional about her ability to think strategically; I’d think she’d think she’d be winning a great triumph by vehemently denying it to Tyrion, especially since she’s despises him as deeply as she does.

Remember she blames him for their mother’s death and is proud of the fact that she attempted to smother him when he was a baby. She doesn’t trust him as far as she can throw him so I have a difficult time believing that she would put herself in such an intimate position with him. Even just going off of what they’ve revealed about her relationship with Tyrion in the show I don’t think she’d be that candid and honest with Tyrion. She’s not that trusting…

I think the portrayal of Cersei is going to be different, since they are taking even further steps to demonize Joff.

She seems less dimwitted on the show than in the books, and I think that the writers realize that without the first person perspective and being able to see how truly batshit Cersei is, there is ZERO percent chance they can realistically convince the audience that she believes Tyrion doesn’t know.

So, assuming you’re right, I would think that her relationship with Margery would be different as well … and since her crazy paranoia regarding Margery fuels the plot that has her winding up in the Grand Septon’s tower … how do you think she ends up there, or will she?

How far are they going to deviate from the story? I know that GRRM has already told the producers major plot points for the over-arching story just in case he eats his last pancake before he’s finished the writing the story; since they know these things, are they just disregarding already established canon for their own (what I think is waterdown) interpretation of ASOIAF?

I don’t think Cersei and Jamie is really much of a secret, it’s not like Tyrion is some retard serf.

It’s not really about what Tyrion knows, but more about what Cersei thinks she can convince people of…at least that’s how it was in the books … obviously they’re trying something different in the show

Actually, you touched on my initial thought: that Margery would be the catalyst for Cersei’s tip from “bitch mode” to “full on crazy.” Essentially, she is cozy and warm when she is in comfortable knowing two things.

 1. She’s the hottest bitch in town
 2. She’s got the power of queen, because the would-be Queen doesn’t want anything to do with it.

When Margery shows up, not only is Cersei dealing with her feelings of being the replaced by someone younger and prettier, but also WANTS to be queen.

In other words, a legitimate threat.

(Essentially, it’s when an aging hot girl sees that she is no longer THE hot girl; the younger girl who replaced her is automatically a ‘slut’)

Not being able to cope, Cersei take a sharp left into Crazytown…all of which would allow them to win up in the same place at the same time.

I don’t know, it’s a good question. I think they will probably not deviate TOO far…they’ll hit the major stuff, all the people who died will stay dead. They obviously need to add in dialogue to account for inner monologue, and shave a ton of stuff out, add other stuff in.

I think they’ll wind up in the same place.

I agree with this. Cersei doesn’t expose herself as an insecure, ill-prepared “queen” until Joff dies, Tommen becomes King, and Tyrion is run off.

The main reason Margery makes Cersei so crazy is the prophecy told to her by Maggy the Frog, which has haunted her for many years:

“Aye. Queen you shall be… until there comes another, younger and more beautiful, to cast you down and take all that you hold dear.”

Good point … I know Cersei interprets it as Margery is the younger queen; but I wonder if it’s actually intended to be Danerys…
