I want to be at 175lbs right now I weigh 153 lbs at 6,2. I’ve been drinking protein shakes working out 5 days a week. I track my calorie intake and right now I’m eating about 3400 calories a day. for about two weeks. I haven’t seen any growth on the scale. what else do I need to do to gain weight?
What are you eating to get to 3400 calories per day?
What are you doing for your 5 days of working out per week?
ive been eating anything I could get i don’t have a set meal everyday. peanut butter and jelly, chips. steak bowl. alot from McDonald’s. cheese sticks with a lot of calories. protein shakes. I’ve also started taking creatine and drinking as much water as I can.
Fix this. You’re just throwing your guts into chaos, and most likely not absorbing all the food you eat because your gut biome is jacked up.
Don’t drink as much water as you can: that’s going to further jack up digestion and electrolyte balance. Drink the amount you need.
Would you be able to answer my question regarding your training?
Do you have access to a kitchen and the ability to prepare simple meals?
yeah sorry i forgot to answer that question. Right now I’m just kinda following what my friend does he got me into the gym. so we have been doing back one day legs one day then arms/chest then rest. Yes I have access to home kitchen I’ve heard of making meals for the week but I haven’t done it yet.
Now is an excellent time to start. Not only will you save money compared to eating a lot of McDonalds, but you won’t compromise your health, you’ll get your guts in a good state, and you’ll be able to grow.
Here are some great resources
That author also wrote an outstanding book titled “Scrawny to Brawny”, which will tell you exactly what to buy at the grocery store and how to cook it.
How do you track exactly?
Are you weighing? Estimating? Do you add up calories at the end of the day?
I just have an app on my phone and track everything I eat
But do you weigh it? What does this mean?
Post screen shots of the last couple of days.
I’m still in school so it’s a school lunch and they have the calories on everything so I added it all up.
Then screen shot your last couple of days.
You are 18yrs old, personally I would avoid all the processed crap but, I doubt that gut biome/inefficient absorption is your main issue for not gaining.
You are either
- Not tracking correctly
- Not eating enough.
All I’m doing right now is reading the label and documenting the calories.
With things like peanut butter and jelly, how do you know that you’re using a serving of peanut butter and serving of jelly? Or is this a pre-packaged sandwich?
It’s pre packaged so it’s got the label on the back with all the health facts
This is what I suspected. It sounds like you only eat process/packaged foods. Is that an accurate assessment?
I would say about 75% of my food consumption is yes.
What do you eat this isn’t that?
How do you measure it?
Hibachi. Just steak and rice usually about 1-2 twice a week. I looked up their nutritional facts and went off of that. Home cooked meal maybe 2 times a week.
I would consider this a packaged food. Someone else prepared it for you. But I understand I should have been more clear.
I definitely feel like you’d see better results if you took control of your nutrition and did not rely on other companies to do this. They’re allowed a 20% margin of error on their calculations, and it’s a similar issue with restaurant food relying on the mercy of the server.
