Recently have switched from water to Gatorade G2 for my pre whey shake and post whey shake. I currently use about 8oz of Orange or Blue G2 Gatorade (just like the taste better) with vanilla ON 100% Whey and 5g of BCAAs for pre and 10g of BCAAs for post. Real quick, you guys think I’m getting enough carbs using the gatorade G2?
Any suggestions on what I should be using instead. Sometimes when I work out in the AM I will mix up the shake with orange juice. Thanks.
Been using Gatorade pre workout since Berardi Recommended years ago. A bottle of that with a scoop or two of whey isolate and never looked back. Best pre workout out supplement I have tried. Doing Anaconda Protocol now. Works, but not to a much greater degree, and gives me me a lot of digestive issues. Not sure the OJ is good pre workout.
As far as the HFCS, don’t think its that bad since your burning it up anyway and you’re not consuming too much to begin with.
g2 Gatorade with sucrose? Sucrose fucks with ur kidneys and liver, and while they are both trying to filter out the sucrose it halts muscle development, the dye in the drink doesnt help either. So I suggest using the regular protein, not to mention the body doesn’t recolonize sucrose as a sugar, so ur not going to get much benefit from it after a workout.
On the bright side if your drinking the blue g2 nd uve had back injuries it aids with it. Stick to the regular Gatorade, safer plus its real sugar which your body recognizes as a carbohydrate.
Can’t help but agree with Chimera182. Aside from the health and cost effectiveness, you can also ration your servings more appropriately depending on your desired carb intake.

Holy crap I got dumber reading that. Please link evidence to every claim you made.
And the blue colouring is only valid if administered via injection acutely after a severe injury directly in the spine, not by drinking.

Exactly plus you aren’t drinking out of a plastic bottle. I am not a BPA nazi but if you have a choice why not. If you run out or in a rush go for it but the powder is so much cheaper and easier to work with.
I use the red powdered koolaid from BJs (huge tub for $6 bucks). Same carb source as gatorade. Can not find the bulk tub of gatorade by me and the little packets are just not cost effective.

Why not avoid it? The powder is cheaper and healthier.[/quote]
I tried the powder a while back and didn’t get quite the same pre workout pump. I know it sounds crazy but when I drink the bottled gatorade with whey isolate first thing in the morning preworkout I almost feel like I start getting a pump, or a little vascular while driving to the gym. The powder didn’t do it for me.
Also do you know if there are different versions of the powder?
I looked all over for the one made with glucose and all I can find is powders with the same ingredients as the bottled type.
I would love to switch to the powdered version for all the reasons you mentioned but can’t seem to find the right one.

I’d rather put in HFCS than hydrogenated oils that are in gatorade. Granted, the amount is probably trivial.

Yes. You get much more HFCS from bottle gatorade than you get bad fats from the powder, on a percentage basis. Nothing is perfect.

I don’t get it. Wasn’t there an article on here not so recently saying that HFCS is no different from just cane sugar. I too , believed that HFCS was toxic…but i feel it’s not so clear cut anymore.

From my understanding, it`s no more toxic than cane sugar. Can sugar, however, is still toxic.
The word toxic, in this post, refers to the fructose load and how it’s processed by the liver. The liver can only process X amount of sugars at once, and with a glucose load, only a small overall percentage (10?) goes to the liver for processing. Whereas all fructose goes to the liver for processing. The so called ‘toxic’ effects come the downstream reactions where fructose isn’t able to be stored in the liver (due to it being full).
There was a post about a month ago about the ‘evils’ of fructose, and the OP included a youtube video of a near hour long lecture. It was really worth it (If anyone has a link, would be greatly appreciated)
And I though the reason for the HFCS initially in Gatorade was that since it inundates the liver with sugars, it can replenish liver glycogen IN a depleted athlete faster than regular sugar. Probably still in the powder because it’s cheap and Gatorade can sell anything with their brand on it now.
