Just ate dinner with this kid, for the record, he had ribs and beer, so if you want to know the secret to strength…well there it is.

Heads up, elmore18 smashed the hell outta the weights today.

Ok where to start… Had the meet today with dixies finest and buff n stuff. I weighed in at a bw of 210 and competed in the junior 220 class, results were as follows:
Squat: opened at an incredibly light 320
then progressed onto 350 it was also super light so instead of moving onto my original goal of 380 I went to 390 and got it really easy as well. I feel I left 10 to 20 more pounds but I am very happy with these prs.

Next Bench: opened with 235 and killed it, moved onto 260 and put it up with ease, finally I decided I wouldn’t short change myself again so instead of going for the planned 280 I jumped to 300 and got it about 1/3 of the way up and lost it, I am still very happy I tried this weight.

Finally Deadlift: Opened with 385 and it flew up, then progressed to 405 same result, then with motivation from dixies finest I made the jump to 450 and dominated it with a 20 pound pr!

Overall for my first meet I do not think it could have went any better, I now have numbers to go by in my training and a sport I look forward to competing in in the future. I would like to give a special thanks to dixie and his dad for filming my final attempts and there support as well. Videos are going to have to wait for now but will be up soon.

AWESOME job man! Thats great to see all the PRs you hit and you totaled 1100 in your first meet!! Keep it up man, motivating me to get better!

squat 390

deadlift 450

Awesome numbers! You had a lot left in the tank for squat and also deadlift. You destroyed that deadlift. Great form and explosiveness!

For the record, after every single squat, EVERYONE commented on how elmore was going way too deep

Congrats on hitting your goal man… Gonna check out the vids when I get home. How did you place?

Funny story actually, there were only 2 people in the junior 220 pound class and I beat the other guy, but it was a small competition I think around 30 to 40 people total so I think most fared well.

Translation - he got first.

Ok today was an awesome day… I found a gym walking distance from my house, that is a powerlifting gym!!!
The guy that owns it is cool as shit and the fee is only 27$ a month. He also offered to let me work in with him and his son (they are really strong) the dad is 55 and still benches 405 for reps. All I did today was a fullbody session with deload weights, but it was surprisingly hard. I am going to start working out with them next week there training style is a lot different than mine but it is going to be awesome!

If you’re not first you’re last!

That’s sick about the PL gym that’s walking distance. Can’t ask for anything better than that really. It should also help a lot working out with the owner, bad ass man.

That’s awesome about the gym! Training with stronger, more experienced people is always great. You can learn tricks, get form critiques, and just be more motivated in general. Looks like you did awesome at your comp too man. Way to do work!

Best training log name in T-Nation.

Congrats on the meet totals man, keep at it.

Gregron and Blaze-I think this can be a real turning point in my training, before I trained hard but at my house so sometimes I was unfocused I feel that this will force me to get better and have someone else hold me accountable as well.

scj119-Thanks for stopping by kind sir, I can only dream of performing as well as Terry Tate lol

Awesome news on the gym! I am going to be going to a Gold’s gym when I start work, so I am hoping they have powerlifting stuff.
