Been to an amateur(or pro) MMA event, and seen stuff in the ring that was just comical? I’ll start…
Was at the rules meeting for a King of the RIng event, this dude was sitting in the back row, wearing sunglasses(indoors). Ref runs through the rules, asks for questions. Sunglasses’ buddy asks a question, something about pressure points or some such nonsense. Ref answers the question, buddy turns to sunglasses, and whispers in his ear, as if he didn’t hear the answer. Sunglasses nods slowly.
Fast forward to the fight. Sunglasses is claiming ninjitsu and boxing as his arts. Enters the ring wearing - no joke - a ninja mask, and the same sunglasses. He’s fighting a good local fighter wearing CroCop shorts. Fight starts, sunglasses(yes, they made him take off the mask and glasses) is very tight, almost bouncing when he steps, and keeps trying to block leg kicks with his hands. CroCop shorts throws another leg kick(blocked with the hands), then throws a high kick, hard. Sunglasses throws hands down to block the leg, and eats total shin. He locks out rigid, CroCop shorts resets his feet then walks away as sunglasses falls flat on his face, out cold and still locked rigid.
The crowd was still laughing when the next fight started.
Aliev Makmuhd vs Tamura at Pride 29 is the most bizzare shit I have ever seen. I have no idea where the hell they Makhmud up from, but when he tried to a spinning hook kick and tangled himself in the ropes I almost died.
