What Jeremy Frey had to say about paused squats:
Start with triples, 5 second pause down in the hole with straight weight, percentage range from 60%-75%. Get a total rep range of 15-18 reps on the sets. This is done as a supplemental movement, not main. Call is specialized developemental. Start there as accessory and try it out. Run a 3 week cycle starting at lower range and work you way up. This is a guideline, not end all be all especially since you have never done them.
