- BB isn’t exactly about being healthy, longevity
- Its a marathon, not a sprint
^^ Two popular claims, but they sure do seem logically incompatible.

I think you could say that since it’s an unhealthy sport (because drugs are involved) it’s smart to do all that you can to promote your health through clean diet, cardio, supplements, and not becoming overweight/“full house”.
I think one of the most persistent myths in BB is the one which it was claimed that when a bodybuilder quit training all the muscle would turn to fat.
Obviously untrue, but we can all see that a statement like that does have a certain logic to those that don’t train and only judge by what they see. It is apparent that a big guy would find it harder to keep the muscle to fat ratio in check as he aged and so there must come a point where his training and diet strategy was in need of dramatic reappraisal.
I do see some big old guys at the gym but they do look rather more “full” house than those fullhouse younger people on this site and also seem very much all upper body with no legs at all.
I suppose it must be hard if you have desired and worked so hard for years to achieve this look to not have so much time at your peak before it becomes very difficult to maintain. Fullhouse Butterflies.
There is also a point though that the alternative for a full house guy when he gets older of dieting down may also seem unappealing. It remains to be said that those fullhouse oldies I mentioned at my gym despite not looking as good as the leaner old guys still look better than their lifetime sedentary contemporaries who never trained.

Stopping their dosage is the bad part.

Out of curiosity what “big guys” are acting hard?
Being mostly an observer in this “Bigger, Stronger, Leaner” forum it seems as if it is simply a safe haven for “lean guys” to extol their own virtues and compliment those who have the same goals. Which is fine, but many of the leaner guys aren’t worried too much about the Bigger and Stronger part.
Anyone should be able to take a joke, however there is this feeling I get that the joke is more coming in the way thinly veiled insults. Whether its on the interwebz or IRL being insulted is not funny especially when your the target.

SteelyD and MXL 2/3 for the tenants of this forum ![]()
That’s better than a 1/3 for leanness only

It’s the new passive aggressive type of joking.
Thanks Testy, that was the term I was looking for.

yup

MXL - (That’s short for Massive XL)
I’m going to guess that “J.Prufrock” is a pretty young guy (or has the a smallworld perspective of one). What the anonymous, pictureless, and ignorable “J.Prufrock” could not possibly understand is that I was literally laughing out loud. Funny is funny. Sometimes, “mean” is funny.
I laugh at myself more than anyone, and anyone who knows me in real life and certainly in my other ‘e-communities’, several who are regulars in this forum, knows that I really don’t take myself too seriously. I certainly don’t take “TN” forums too seriously. I work at my computer from home and the browser is always open, so most of the time I post shit because it happens to be in front of me (should probably change that habit).
And that brings me to what is so sad and disappointing about this forum. That other people spend so much time tearing down other people, especially something as highschoolish as “u r s0 f@t” is just, well, sad.
Guys like Dethlolozoth, obviously an intelligent and accomplished guy (and fellow guitarist) who could offer so much to the forums but just troll. Sad, dude. Det, I would love to talk PL and guitars with you sometime, but shit, man-- tedious. Not that you care what a weak fatboy like me would have to say, but I’m man enough to admit I could learn a few things from a young dude.
I don’t know if it’s just the status quo, but the young #hawtabz dogmatic guys don’t realize that there’s a whole world of big/strong people (and I am far from either one of those) who just don’t care to be at or near contest condition, and don’t care to lift ‘for chix’ (puuhleez don’t reply that that is not the driving factor). They want to go the gym and move as much weight as they can (and do just fine with the ladies).
Wow, I just typed way too much.
TLDR;
Great Post! (LOL)
Seriously, though I joke around with BBers and Lean guys at my gym and it generally comes from a place of respect and like towards one another, They bust my balls about cardio and I bust their balls about spangly briefs…but I respect the shit out of what they do, here it seems that there is no respect but like you said just tearing down.
Coming from a guy who aspires to get strong like Steely and Det, and am fine and prefer the full house look however I can still give Kudos to guys here who have attained and are trying to accomplish their goals even though they are not in line with mine. the terms Bigger Stronger and Leaner can be mutually exclusive as it is an all encompassing term, so why not live and let live.
^ Upon re-reading after posting, I am smiling at the irony of what reads as a ‘serious post’… LMFAO.

This particular forum is not even close to representing ‘real life’. That gym respect comes from face-to-face interaction on a regular basis where people see and respect that each other are working toward goals, regardless of what they look like at that moment in time. That culture can’t be fostered online by pictureless posters (note: not all are faceless, but they’re the worst. Wouldn’t you agree, Prufrock?).
And, MXL, let me get my full homo on here-- you are looking just beastly dude. Sigh, if only you weren’t so… #fullhouse…
Thanks bro…Im just trying to get to Steely status!
At the end of the day isn’t there a little bit of bashing from both sides of this? Mainly this whole hashtag hawtabz bullshit.
FYI I am nether here nor there regarding wether I want to be lean 24/7 or not BUT I know that without a doubt I will grouped into this “hawt abz group” that supposedly doesn’t want to get bigger or stronger just because I am currently lean and not large.
Where on this forum or even site is there someone who doesn’t want to get bigger and stronger?!

And for the record, having recently read articles and seen lifts from George Leeman, Lillebridge, Spoto and Dan Green, I cannot, in good conscience, ever refer to myself as even approachin “strong”. LOL.
Much respect for those guys.
