Recently (for the last couple of months) I’ve been having a kind of sharp pain in my right shoulder toward the anterior part, some times it feels as if it extends slightly down to the pectoralis major, just beneath the collar bone. The pain is not generally pronounced, but is noticeable after most training involving the shoulder.
Moving the arms behind the plane of the body is what creates the most pain, especially flat bench, flies and pullovers. There’s no acute pain from performing the excersise rather a feeling of tightness and a sharp pain in the anterior deltiod afterwards.
I went to a physiotherapist 7 weeks ago, and he told me that my pectoralis minor was tight combined with tightness in the muscles around the scapula, and that this was what created the pain. He told me to stay away from flat bench and flies, but said that aside from that, stretching of the tight areas would solve the pain issue. I’ve been going on with strectches since then, but have not really noticed any improvement aside from the muscles around the scapula having become more flexible.
Can anyone advice me on anything else I could do to remove this annoying issue?
