Back in 96 I dated a girl from Walla Walla Washington. Her family had a cabin up in Idaho at a place called Priest lake. Went up there in the summer of 96. It was beautiful up there but that lake is cold.

As you can see my workout partner exhausted himself due to thinking he’s exhausted.

Pre Workout

My fake Keurig machine bought the farm yesterday. Well I just put the grounds in the basket and poured boiling water through it. I might just buy a Mr. Coffee (Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?) or a percolator.

Actual Workout

I found my dip belt, so I added 20 lbs. to my dip efforts. I was not sure I would do a rep, but I did a few each set. I earned a nice pump for my effort.

My low back was sore so I did standing calf raises. I also did neck raises. I should be doing this at least once a week. I forget.

I have been listening to The Civil War by Shelby Foote. I am at Atlanta. Personally I think Johnston > Hood. That is just me.

I will be back Monday. Have a great weekend.

I loved that Christmas story as a little one. It ranked second only to Year Without a Santa Claus and the Miser brothers. Great workout, hope the shoulder behaves.

I woke this morning. I turned on my Kindle. It was on Facebook. A headline stated Steffi Graf had died.

I was never a tennis player. The air conditioned courts at the racquet ball court was more my thing. But, being sponsored by my grandfather, my father joined a country club. He and my mum played a lot of tennis. We watched a lot of tennis.

Somewhere in my early 20s I was watching a lot of tennis on the tube. Particularly when Steffi Graf or Gabriela Sabatini were playing.

I was quite sad then when I read Ms. Graf had passed. Then I became quite pissed when I discovered it was fake f#cking news. Mother f#€$ers. I think if the turds who do this get caught, they should get caned. Like that American did in Singapore or Malaysia some years ago.

That is my thought of the day.

I was all bummed reading this until I got to that last paragraph. I played tennis through high school, and then recreationally after that. I taught my daughter and she played throughout high school. I’m at that point where people in my age group are dying more and more often, and this one was gonna bum me out. Stupid people.

I happened to catch a YouTube quickie featuring my wife’s least favorite person: Dr. Peter Attia. He was talking about what we used to call conditioning. Or cardiovascular training. He described me to a tee. I love the resistance training. I hate the cardio training. The good doctor explained: Just get on an exercycle for twenty minutes, three days a week. Do not follow watts, or worry about Level 2. Turn on your favorite podcast and pedal. So this morning I did. Maybe I can make this a habit.

Pre Workout:

Workout:

A new week. It brings a pretty decent session and pump. I increased resistance of a couple of exercises. So with A pretty decent pump and a few minutes rest I hopped on the Airdyne. I average a 2.0 rate level. At 20 minutes, according to Kenneth Cooper’s aerobic output chart, that was 4.2 aerobic level. That is easier for me to calculate than a ā€œLevel 2ā€ effort I am hearing from influencers.

Fifteen years ago my wife and I spent a week on the Grand Cayman. Pre Trip I was about 200 lbs. About where I am now. Starting about the First of March I saddled the same Airdyne I have now and took off. I was probably working 12 Cooper Points a week when I started. The last week of May I boarded the Delta Flight in SLC, headed for Georgetown weighing 172 pounds. By then, in three 30 minute sessions a week I was compiling 30-35 aerobic points a week. I could snorkel all day off Seven Mile Beach. I even swam to the floating dock in Georgetown harbor. Once there I suddenly remembered I had a fear of sharks. It took me an hour to screw up the courage to swim back.

Let us all see where the added Airdyne time takes me.

I return to school tomorrow. It should be pretty pleasant. Work keeps me scheduled, more organized, and more sociable. During my summer break I become a hermit. I need a good shave, an even better haircut, and remember to smile.

That’s an impressive amount of weight loss. About 10 years ago, I got up to 200 pounds. I felt like crap all the time and was in terrible shape. Started working out regularly and counting calories. A few months later I was down to around 175-180 and have stayed there ever since. Cheers to you my friend!

Our kids go back to school next week. I can’t believe the summer is over already.

Obviously, I woke early. This was a good session. I wasn’t sure on my way to bed last evening that I wanted to put in a session this morning. But after waking, and a cup of pre workout I was good to go.

I will ride the Airdyne tomorrow.

PM workout this afternoon. I washed my car this morning. Then promptly failed to see the irrigation sprinkler irrigating the black top, then my car, instead of the potatoes the high quality H2O was meant to(o).

My phone camera has passed on I think. I salute it.

No dead lifts. My back is sore. So calf raises instead. Hopefully next week is good to go. I put a 25 lbs. disc on for dips. I made five reps the first set. The last two sets were cringe worthy. I actually should have put rest-pause into practice. I didn’t even think about it.
