That is impressive!
Good work on that session. I’ve had covid several times that I know of. Each time it gets milder. We haven’t tested for it in a few years now as it is not any worse than a cold at this point. Hopefully if you end up with it your experience will be similar.

3:00 AM wake up
Pre-Workout: San Francisco Bay Area Doughnut shop blend
Start. 3:10 (Ab Stimulator)
Ab Stimulator Mode III. Level 9 20 minutes
Dips 1x5, 1x3, 1x2, 1x1
Meadow’s Rows: 3x10
Up Right Row: 2x10, 1x8
Sissy Squats: 3x10
Dead lift: 3x10
Reps: 128
Time: 20:03 minutes (I never count time with the Ab Stimulator)
I swapped bars while dipping. The old bar and dip handle produce better results. Sissy Squats are new, and OK. Just bodyweight now, but good stuff.
The rest was good. Nice pump. No complaints.
Note: I believe the vacuum movement is better in keeping that belly button hernia under control than the ab stimulator. I have an appointment in two weeks with my neurologist. Obviously he does not specialize in my belly button, but he played college football and might have some insight from team mates of years gone by. We’ll see. I have a pinched nerve now. It does not cause pain constantly, but when it kicks in, holy $#!% that hurts. The first time it acted up I was in class. I had 13 high school seniors thinking I was having a heart attack. I was number 14.
I have started a food journal. When I looked up the calorie count this morning regarding my Java Express mocha I about fell over. For 16 oz. it carries 485 calories. Impressive. Add that to my home made breakfast sandwich (470 cal.) and I am swinging for the fences.
See you Monday.
Volume of the preworkout doughnut shop?
There is definitely nothing sissy about “sissy” squats. Nice job!
10 oz.
Great looking session. The food journal definitely keeps you honest. When I started one I made a few very quick and permanent changes.
- No more soda.
- Only black coffee.
- No more desert on week days.
- Skip breakfast.
- Try to break even or have a slight deficit.
Those few changes have kept me pretty close to my goal weight for several years. ![]()
Holy crap, my thighs are sore. Not to mention my duff.
I can imagine! Sounds like a good time to do some stretching. ![]()
April 7, 2025
4:50 AM Start
Pre-work out: San Francisco Bay Area Coffee Co. Doughnut Shop blend.
Good workout. I will be back later.
Last week’s review: Overall, not a bad week. I kept making progress at certain exercises, whether is was reps, or increased weight. This morning I was able to increase weight on the front squat by “10 lbs.”. (Using bands obviously does not indicate equivalent resistance to free weights/machine weights…) Today’s bench was an increase as well. I have to be careful with behind the neck press. Last Monday, a few hours after my session, which included the behind the neck press, my pinched nerve kicked in. That was painful Maynard. My incline press is improving. I think I am maxing at pull downs. I will increase reps then increase resistance very slowly. Interestingly, I seem to press better now than pull. Squats are on the verge of an increase with resistance as well.
Food: I realized last week I am eating constantly. No wonder my drawers are tightening up around the waist. A lot of it is sugar in coffee, or a mocha from Java Express. I posted those are about 500 calories. I have started a food log. Shopping yesterday, I was stayed away from the chips and Australian licorice. The Wiley Wallaby watermelon licorice is a vice. I skipped those as well. I regards to food intake I am my father’s child. However, I eat less at this age than he did, I still eat less than him. However, we both snack. My favorite is dipping mini tomatoes in Bob’s Bleu Cheese Dressing. I also eat late at night, I am half aware of my 2:00 AM attacks on the fridge. I am not sure what prompts that. I am not sure I am actually hungry.
Work: I was called a racist last week by a woke co-worker. I will not type the conversation, but fortunately my principal was standing next to me and asked my co-worker, “What the hell are you talking about?” That embarrassed my co-worker. He has avoided me since. He is one of those who walks around with his phone and fact checks everyone. It is like a contest. He runs about 400 lbs. I think he tries to make up for his size with his intellect. One of these days I am going to tell him to shut the fuck up. Since last week I think he is looking for an opportunity for some kind of vengeance.
Empty Nester: My youngest daughter and her husband (and their GD dog) moved out last week. I told her, being 26, why move out now? I miss her though. He will be attending “BYU Law” as he informs people. Good for him though. He is a kind fellow. I hope a career in law does not turn him into Denny Crane or Alan Shore. Or worse. The house is quiet. Just my wife and I. Kind of like being newly weds, or not.
Well, April is here, time to start working on the yard, catching some rays, and working with my German Shepherd on the leash.
Good looking workout. Is that your potato farm?
No. I worked in orchards in California when I was a teen. I have no idea who’s farms those are. I like just driving, getting away from town. If I could find five acres out in that area, I would put a single wide on it and be happy. My wife would not however. ![]()
He sounds like a very lovely and positive addition to the team ![]()
Also man, I dunno how I haven’t asked until now, but what were your best numbers when you were at your strongest, did you do S/B/D? Always curious to hear about everyone’s glory days
Guy who called you racist is not worth a second thought. He is more than likely a very unhappy soul, searching for company. Don’t join him.
With your last empty nester out of the house, sounds like more room for gym equipment just opened up. ![]()
The glory days? I normally keep that to myself. Not much to write home about. Due to deformed vertebra I never deadlifted more than 250 lbs.? Squats, I reached about 350 lbs. Twice, once when I was 22 or so, I did reach a 305 lbs. bench (It was 300+…). I weighed about 165 lbs. When I was 35 (?) I set a goal to bench 300 lbs. again. I made 320 +/- lbs. at a bodyweight of around 185 lbs. All bench no squats. I stopped there because of screaming shoulders. I did a two hand press of 205 lbs. about that time. Out of necessity, and not wanting to compress my lower back, is the reason I stick with my Soloflex and the bands now. The bands work. I have done a session on those new computer based, magnetic (I believe) resistance, “smart” resistance machines. “The Exercise Coach” franchise has them. If I move to a town that has a studio, I might very well sign up. Well, that’s it. Those were my “glory days”.
Yea, I think “Prick” is his middle name. He tries to be a bully.
If I buy another piece of exercise equipment, my wife will be the empty nester. ![]()
Tell her you got on sale. You will be fine. ![]()
You and me both, my friend… ![]()
