You might appreciate this. This is his assessment of him before he changed his name so we’re talking early early Muhammed Ali.
The only concern he had about him was the fact he never got hit with a good punch. We know now that he can, in fact, be hit with a good punch and eat it haha.
Dude I totally forgot about the fight with Smokin Bert Cooper, I don’t know how the hell that slipped past me. I’m going to rewatch this tonight
Had to search this guy up (Yes im young)
I never got into Olympic Weightlifting, although I have always wondered whether or not I’d be decent at it. A lot of Asians seem to gravitate towards it for one reason or another especially (actually just about every Asian Dude I know that goes to the gym is doing oly lifting) so maybe when I get bored with powerlifting I’ll transition to that lol.
And Mark Henry… Imagine being so strong you have to say “im trying to be humble”"
Today is going to be a be-hatch. I was not paying attention to my meds. I ran out last evening of an important on, but should have taken the prescription in Friday. Being Sunday, where I live, all the pharmacies are closed. Except for the pharmacies that carry that med. Somehow ER morphine 15 mg has become very popular and there is a shortage. I may have to call the neurosurgeon tomorrow and see if there is a second option. Hydros are out, I like them too much. The ER keeps me functional, chases away breakout pain (that is a term), and I do not ever get buzzed taking it. But, I do get the chills if I do not. I may have to drive the forty miles to Idaho Falls if the two pharmacies that carry it are have it in stock, the two that are actually open today. The neurosurgeon told me a few years back, If I ever asked for Oxy’s or another more potent med, we would have a long talk. I have not needed an increase in mgs, or a more potent med. I attribute that to staying in shape, and being consistent. I figure I have 36 hours before the chills start. The hunt is on. Probably too much sharing. Sorry.
I need to watch that as well. Olympic lifting is a whole different animal. I am impressed by the athleticism of the Olympic lifters. Men or women. The flexibility in the hips while performing the snatch. It used to involve the two hands over head press. That was nixed decades ago. The Bulgarians are the masters of the Olympic lift. Naim Süleymanoğlu was born in Bulgaria, but lifted for Turkey. He passed some years back. Unfortunately, NBC would rather show us rhythm gymnastics instead of weightlifting. But the competitions end up on YouTube eventually. Olivia Reeves won the first Olympic medal (gold) for the US since the 70s. Good for her. Hampton Morris won a bronze for the men. Maybe they IOC can ditch break dancing and put more OWL on the regular tube.
George was a great man. I hit him up on Twitter once, and he wrote back a really nice reply. My dad and uncle were huge boxing fans. They always talked about Foreman, Ali and Frazier. I was too young to watch those fights from the 70s, but I have watched them all (multiple times) since then. I was in high school and college when he came back. He was such a strong puncher, but always a gentleman.
Ab Vacuum: 25
Bench Press: 1x12, 1x9, 1x8
Lat Pull Down/Biceps Curl: 2x12, 1x10
Behind Neck Press: 3x12
French Press: 1x12, 1x10, 1x9
Front Squat: 3x12

Very good this morning. I am still glued to my chair. It was air sucking, lung expanding, by the time I finished my front squats. I was organized, efficient, a good session.
I weighed this morning, 212 lbs. Less than I thought, but obviously room to improve. My pants are fitting better and I needed a belt with the pair I took out of the dryer this morning and put on. My weight seems to be hovering, but my waist is reducing. My shoulders, chest, and arms, are filling out my shirts better. Slow but steady.
I was able to fill my prescription yesterday. I finally found the pharmacy, about 40 miles away, that had it stocked. It was probably best I picked it up. I started getting the chills on the way home. Not wanting an open bottle of ER morphine in the car, I waited. It took a bit, but eventually I felt better. Relaxed (not high). So I watched the new Sabaton “The Great War” animated movie. I think they are better historians than many academics. I started watching boxing. I watched DuBois work Joshua. That did not surprise me. Then I watched Usyk beat DuBois. I re-watched Usyk take Joshua’s belts.
On another note, I see many are traveling at the moment. Hotel gyms suck. Plus I have had MRSA. Public places scare me. When I was going to conferences I had (still have) a copy of Diamond Dallas Page’s Yoga for Regular Guys on my Kindle. every morning I would throw a towel down and go through the workout(s) in the book. I am starting to feel like it might be time for a change, I might start that again. Then move onto the DVDs. But I do dig the routine I have going.
Glad to read you got your meds and it sounds like you are headed the right way physique-wise (damn the scale… just numbers!). Have a great rest of your week.
Some what blaise (sp) this morning. Maybe too much sleep. A 4:50 AM start. I reduced some resistance. I got back to better form. Right now I feel each muscle group engaged. There is a pump, but very specific. Less just “swole”.
The hands are shaking. But not bad.
Time for history readiness!
Friday Then!
Edit: The algorithm (I guess…) is sure cheap on how many hearts it hands out during the day.
Good rep count overall thanks to the three sets of front squats.
New goal, to bench the two 100 lbs Soloflex weight straps. They are not 200 lbs, but they are a gold standard b!tch.
See you Wednesday!
I was thinking about Saturday’s workout. I really thought the Meadows’ Rows were pretty excellent. Being “old school” I do see some things being not any better (my opinion) than what has been going on for decades, but I have not tried them, I could be full of scheisse. Plus my home gym is not equipped for many of the newer style lifts. I do need to get out more, truly. I think when I retire I will join a gym. Then I see things I think are asinine. I watched a clip of a woman squatting 135 lbs. while standing on the handle of a kettlebell. Squatting is a useful tool. Kettlebells are a useful tool. Some poor slob out there is watching that and is going to give it a try. Jujimufu recently has a reel of him deadlifting while wearing roller blades. Deadlifting is a tool. Roller blades are what very in shape ladies glide around in at Venice Beach. You can guarantee, right now, someone who did not think it through, is putting that first foot in a roller blade. God bless him. I am in an apparent cranky mood. My apologies.
Mid-Evening… I have been pooped all week. I landed at home today and slept about 3 hours. Had a light snack when I woke.
This was a good session. A good pump. Particularly after the seated press. As I type a lat pulldown/seated press super-set seems like a good combo.

See you Friday!
A counselor at work has been sick going on a week. He came back Tuesday for the day. I hope he does not have the covid. I thought of this falling asleep last evening. I have had it twice. The first bout was probably a month. Part deaux about two weeks. I hope I have some immunity, or it is less potent. If I miss any workouts (if he is patient zero) I am hiding a salmon in his office.
I love this level of petty vengance.
I worked with someone at a previous company who I had an intense dislike of, on the day I left he was on holiday for a week so I filled his safety boots with oats, filled them with water and left them by the radiator.
