You did right. I was watching Joe Rogan and Mike Rowe. Mike Rowe came from a family of builders and handymen. One day his father pulled him aside and told him he needed a new set of tools in his “tool box”. " Son you cannot even cut angles right.". So, Mike Rowe, at about 19 sang in the chorus for the Cleveland opera for eight years. Then QVC I think. Your son might be the next Paul Newman or Humphrey Bogart. I wish him luck!
Oh, he’s not looking to act as far as I know. He’s moved back to our pretty remote area and is building a life. He’s earning well and is comfortable, and is mainly concerned about finding a romantic relationship at the moment. He’ll be fine. Smart guy and hard worker - it’ll work out. Just showing the other side of the push/don’t push kid/college question.
We do our best!

Pre Workout: San Francisco Doughnut Shop Blend 10 oz.
Ab Stimulator. Mode I Level 10, 20 mins
I extended my range of motion with less resistance on the front squat. More reps, but a longer range.
I swelled. By the time I was done my arms filled out my shirt sleeves. Of course I landed a pump. I thought at my sudden age the pump was in the past. Not so.
I have started buying new elastomers. This high desert, dry climate, is brutal on the resistance bands and shock rings. I might put a humidifier in my gym room. I am headed to Wally-World after my shower. I might come home with more than dog food.
Well. Until Wednesday!

More ROM less resistance. Hence, higher reps. But a good workout. A good pump!

I could not sleep, so my PM became an AM. A good session. I feel like I worked out, shaky hands, shoulder/chest/arm pump. I thought back to March, when I started this, the day of the pump was gone. I was wrong. So was The Oak, the pump is not better than loving, but it (the pump) is pretty satisfying.
Two days off now. I am getting into Chess.com. I need to think outside that box and remember the Airdyne.
Everyone have a good weekend! Until Monday!
Vacuum? We need to start doing that at our house.
Good on you for doing the Airdyne in the winter time. I can’t bring myself to do it. ![]()
I need to, but I find cardio work, even HIIT style a drudgery.
I do that vacuum movement to attempt to keep my umbilical hernia in place. Aside from that ab stimulator, the vacuum seemed to be the exercise that “experts” choose to help with that. Traditionally I am a regular sit up, or Roman chair sit-up doer. Those are frowned upon.

Pre Workout Fog Chaser
Start: 5:50 AM
Ab Stimulator Mode I. Level 9. 20 mins
Bench Press. 3x20
Pull Down. 3x12
Behind Neck Press. 3x10
French Press. 3x12
Front Squat. 3x12

Still trying to adjust to the new resistance bands. Three sets of 20 on the bench is a bit upper end. I still have a good post workout glow going.
I set the Total Gym up last evening. I want to use it for super sets, etc. I will probably start Wednesday with that adventure.
See You Wednesday!
January 29, 2025
I woke this morning nauseated and then sprinting. I took the day off.
I did not think I would session up. But then I felt better. Then I got bored.
Ab Stimulator. Mode II. Level 10 20 mins
Of all days to start just 60 carbs a day, I have been sipping on a Coke.
It ended up being a good session. Shoulders and arms felt swole. The old Soloflex infomercial would claim a hard set of squats was like a 100 yard dash. I am not sure of the voracity of that claim, but I was sucking wind like I think I remember a 100 yard dash was like.
My six year old grandson took to Nightwish. Now, apparently, he likes Sabaton. Add to these The Who and Boston, and I believe my daughter is a good parent.
We’ll see you Friday!
Glad you started feeling better and got some training in!
Way to overcome. Sometimes you just have to get it done.
January 31, 2025
The “dreadful” month of January is over. An early morning start, 4:10 AM. everything went well. Listening to Battle Cry of Freedom by McPherson. Good history.
Pre-Workout Victor Allen’s Doughnut Shop blend
I believe I will be napping after school today. But a good workout swole. Keeping the sets and exercises fairly close together keeps my heart rate up.
Dips are making a comeback. I might reduce dips to one set and focus on reaching 15 reps, then add another set. I have thought of doing one set of each exercise each workout, but I have a tendency to out-grow my clothes. Right now my shirts are getting tight around my upper back and chest. I weighed yesterday (at home). I am around 210 lbs. Not as much of a weight gain as I had suspected.
Took a sauna last evening. Twenty minutes. I might take one today. I need to increase the temperature but 20 minutes is plenty.
See you Monday!
I am in the midst of an apparent stomach virus and a coworker gave these hot sauces to me yesterday because her family fears them. I might buy some wings and try to burn that virus right out of me.
This is something I try to do as well. That’s why I list my average heart rate at the end of everything. Good looking session! Stomach virus??? Hate to hear that but at least they usually don’t last long. I like your plan to burn it up! ![]()
That is a capital idea. I think I will do that. Though I do not get winded when I am walking, etc. There must be merit to it.
I like how some of us here are getting back to school with dips and pullups. These exercises have been around for so long, because they work.
Nice job.
