Friedrich is Beyond 35... Really Beyond

Sorry to hear about your mishap. I am sure it helped to get moving some today and get some work in though.

Nice work!

Not bad today. No cardio though. Or yet at least.

Actually, it was not great today. I worked out after I woke up. The doc increased my Lyrica and I was dizzy and a bit wobbly. But, I got an increase on dips. Grinding those out, and my negative time on my negative pull ups is increasing.

To be frank, a cardio pedaling did not seem desirable today. Maybe later tonight. Or tomorrow. Everyone have a good weekend.

Summer is coming to a close. Back to work. I have much less stress since I decided I did not want to be involved with online schooling. I am still, and just, a brick and mortar history teacher.

As summer closes, so does my Summer of Soloflex. I do not do pictures, but here is the following: I could not do a dip when I started; I did a set of seven this morning. No pull ups yet, but I can do a 30 second negative. My starting TUL was 10 seconds. I never measure body parts, but probably having 13 inch arms after a month of Corona around October 2020(?), they measured fifteen inches last week. Not big enough to brag, but, they are getting bigger. My waist? My secret, but it has reduced. Chest 45 inches. I have no idea what is was when I started, but the war on mascuboobs is being won. And, a V shape is slightly beginning to appear. Slightly.

Next? I am thinking of similar workouts starting in September. Same equipment, but using super sets in workouts, workouts supplemented with dumbbells mixed into the workouts. Pull downs super setted with dumbbell shoulder presses for example. Incline dumbbell curls and a triceps exercise.

I forgot to add, my overall conditioning has improved very well.

Goals for Christmas? Three sets of ten for dips sound good? Arms, approaching 16 inches? That might be too quick. Real pull ups. My waist fives inches less. I had a 50+ inch chest in my 30s. My wife said it was to big. So sculpting and molding my chest /shoulders/lats. Quite a vague goal.

My 50s were a physical cluster fudge. I want 60+ to be different.

Sorry for such a long post.

Sounds like some really good progress. Your consistency and hard work have paid off.

Christmas goals sound good! Go get them!!

Summer is indeed here. For the last 12 years I have had a second job as an adjunct instructor at a local university. As much as I enjoy the students, I understand what you are saying about added stress. My real job is stressful enough. I keep going because I want to retire in 2026 and keep the adjunct job for something to do.

Your workouts are always impressive.

Sounds like you have made some great progress and have some excellent goals. It’s crazy to think that summer is almost over. We probably have another two months of warm weather but school starts next week and that always puts an abrupt end to the summer vibes. That’s really cool that you are a history teacher. That was always one of my favorite subjects.

Up much earlier than I wanted. I will do Airdyne sprints tonight or tomorrow.
See you Thursday!

I did resource for years. When the chance at the History/Social Studies came up, I actually went over the principal’s head (who does the hiring for his school) to the superintendent. I had never done something like that before, or since. The principal wanted to hire his friend, a teacher, who had bilked his former school district out of several thousand dollars. Convicted even… I thought that whole deal was bullshit. My daughter married well, the superintendent’s son. In the end getting the history spot was no contest.

I have a stomach bug this morning. If it clears up I will engage this afternoon. I am missing district meetings this morning. That goes over about as well as a fart in an elevator.

Hopefully, I will edit later if I can get into my workout clothes for 30 minutes.

This is a clip from a daily email I get from the Austrian’s empire. I found it interesting.

" The Early Bird Fights Off Heart Disease
The best time of day to work out is the time you will do it most consistently.
But, if you are impartial to when you can exercise, a morning sweat session might do more than burn calories or help jumpstart your day.
The researchers examined exercise data from more than 86,000 people and compared different exercise windows throughout the day. They found that being most active between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. (considered the “late morning”) was linked with the lowest risks of both heart disease and stroke.
Participants who were most active in the early morning or late morning had 11 percent and 16 percent lower risks of incident coronary artery disease, respectively. Those who were most active in the late morning had a 17% decreased risk of incident stroke.
The research suggests that regardless of how much activity people performed, those who did morning exercise experienced the added health protection.
Remember, you’ll see health benefits whether you train in the morning or night, so there’s no need to flip your schedule upside down if it’s not sustainable."

I made it!

No cardio today. I keep typing tomorrow. We will see.

Here we go:

Ab Stimulator Mode II Level 11, 15 minutes

Incline Press: Reps - 12, 8, 5
Dorsi Bar Pull Down: 3x12
Shoulder Press: Reps - 10,8,8
Standing Curl: Reps - 12,8,8
Squat: Reps - 12,11,12

Total Time: 21-25 minutes

Neck work: 10 lbs. 3x10

I had added resistance on the incline press, pull down and curls.

I hit a real buzz saw on set three on the incline press. That will be better next week.

I should have had a twelfth rep on set 2 doing the squats. I believe I just breathed better on set 3.

I had a good pump.

Considering I have had half a pack of saltines since lunch yesterday, things went well.

Maybe some cardio tomorrow, but see you Saturday.

Edit and Add: Cardio - Six, three minute rounds, one minute between rounds on the reflex bag. 23 minutes total.

I like getting the training done early - defo notice an improvement with the body and brain being more alert compared to a later session.

A good session today.

Couple of more dips. On the pull ups: I remember a configuration someone came up with that turns the Soloflex into a type of Gravitron machine. You have to be a boomer I think. So, I was able to do assisted pull ups. I have a Soloflex EZ bar, and a floating lever arm. I use the EZ bar for the pull up handles. I attach the floating lever arm, pushing down on the shock rings, standing actually. They reduce some of my body weight. More robust than assisted pull ups on the Total Gym. As I get stronger I can swap out a thicker ring with one that has less resistance. This way I do not get thwacked betwixt with a Rogue band. But still caution is adhered too.

Shrugs and the donkey press felt very strong.

Everyone have a good rest of your weekend.

Wait! I finished reading Dune.

I fished 5 hours on Sunday. I caught a brown trout. It was beautiful, and made up for all those days I got skunked.

This morning HIIT Airdyne:

3(3:00+:30)+ 3:00 = 13:30

Distance: 3.5 miles

See you tomorrow.

I have really enjoyed the last 2 Dune movies. There is also going to be a series on HBO this fall I am looking forward to. I am sure the books are better.

Congrats on the fishing!

It helps with summers off. I live in a state that is still rural. Though I refuse to ice fish in the winter. And today is the first day of class, so the fishing has been curtailed significantly. But, it is pretty cool. :call_me_hand:

Good Session

That is not a very good screen shot. Overall, I had a good session. Twenty-five minutes total.

Total reps were 170, not counting the 3 sets of neck work.

I was interrupted due to our electric (invisible) fence being down. My daughter’s dog (Pyradoodle) wandered across the street and was wading in the irrigation canal. Hopefully the new unit comes tomorrow so he can get his arsch shocked. That may sound cruel, but better than being smacked my a Ford F-150.

I thought I was burning out a bit on this. But, after waking at 5:00 AM and slurping caffeine, I was ready to go, and looking forward to my time (mostly alone except for my workout partner the Alsatian…) well spent.

School started well yesterday. Off we go!

On to Thursday!

I got out and around yesterday. Actually caught a rainbow trout. I learned they come from the walleye family the other day. (We need an ichthyologist because I am not sure the chart I saw was accurate.)
