there is no way in hell I am training for 12miles.
LMAO

Hmm dinner looks so good!
And it’s a big pot, which means leftovers for me ;D

hey…so glad to read you’re still working with the coach and planning on doing your 1st meet. 4 weeks out now, right?

looks devine!!

When I start my ‘rucks,’ I won’t go for distance but time out in the field, haha! When 45 min feels easy, I’ll add more weight/time.

LilP- yup 4 weeks out and bringing my registration tonight at the gym

GET SOME, MAIN!!! That’s good stuff right there.

That meal looks delish! Mmmm baby potatoes!
Good job on getting out in the cold snow and rucking.

Why is it that every thing that looks good has onions in it?

Has onion severe allergy

Heh, that’s a tough break. It’s easy not to put onions in if you cook it yourself, though.
(Casserole looks delicious, btw).

N8tive you’ll be proud to know I did as planned.

I worked a few hours and then at 2 got dressed up warmly and loaded my 50lbs in my packsac and left. It was a nice sunny, mild winter day. Perfect for rucking.

I negotiated 5km of snowy city sidewalks within an hour.

Question for other ruckers out there how many lbs do you load up with? I was just wondering if my 50lbs was lightweight?

now for Dexter and beer.

mmm.
I am soooo sooo proud of ya!! I am just catching up with your log and had to tell ya that is awesome! I dont think 50lbs is a lightweight, I am using 45lbs…so yea you got this thing.
Great work mainy

Bear & Beast - I know!!! I’m psyched. I think I might have stage fright.lol.
LS - love me some baby potatos - plus they’re not as time consuming since I don’t peel them
Joe - for you I would skip the onions. No issue. Onions is only a flavor base, easy to switch out.
Cal - thank you
N8tive - good to know I did not pussy my first attempt. If your doing 45lbs then I’m good for sure.

Tonight I made a point of going to the powerlifting gym since work will be extra busy this week.

Started with 10 minutes of warmup including shoulder dislocates, bodyweight squats, bird dogs ect…

Sumo Deadlifts -lifted in kg hence funny numbers but I did the math for myself.
154lbs 1x5, 1x8,
187lbs 4x5,
191lbs 2x5,
198lbs 2x5,
220lbs 4x1.

This was my first time deadlifting at the PL gym and it was nice to know my form was not all that bad.

Notes
1-did not jam the bar up to my shins to keep the bar traveling properly (from Gits log). I used to deadlift with my shins right up to the bar.

2-Coach mentionned that my knees tend to cave in when I set my sumo feet too wide apart. Brought the feet in a bit and made sure the knees where out.

3- I need at least 4 minutes rest between heavy lifts. I was not giving myself enough time to recoop. Gotta start thinking like a PLer.

4- rubber plates on plateform have a lot of bounce. I really need to reset to keep the bounce from crapping up my form.

5- My hips shot up at the 220. I need to make sure my legs are still in the game when the weight gets heavy.

6- I need to keep the bar straight and bring it down equally, my first lifts I was dropping the bar unevenly.

and the rest of the workout:

Reverse lunges into step-ups with 12kg (26.4lbs) kettlebells
3x8 each leg
Hatefully hard. I don’t do enough single leg movements and doubling it up like this made it evil.

Tire flips 250lbs 2x20 - These were way fun and left me breathless.

Now my quads are on fire, my knees hurt but I’m happy.

sound like you’re enjoying the PL gym!

I think all of us need to take your notes to heart on the sumo DL

TIRE FLIPS!!!

runs around in circles

Awesome work! I’ll agree about the rest periods. If I’m lifting heavy I need a good, long rest between sets or I’m good for nothing.
Glad you’re enjoying the PL gym - wish I had one locally.

yea for tire flips, heres a fun thing to do with the tire - flip it, jump in the middle then jump out the other side, then dash back around the front of the tire flip it again and repeat  Good times right there baby!~

Nice liftin N, and great that you’re making notes as you go. It’s a never ending learning process, ain’t it?

Thats IT!! Im on the hunt for a tire…

BTW- 3 miles in the snow with 50lbs in 45 minutes???!! HOW?!

I just loaded up and 5 minutes into it my spine felt like it was going to break…other than that it was great!!..and I only did it for 25 minutes. (1.5 miles)

I seriously envy your Pling gym.

Sets of 20 on a 200lb tire is very cool!
