Absolutely. Powerlifting requires a lot of resting between sets.

My hips shot up at the 220. I need to make sure my legs are still in the game when the weight gets heavy.

Welcome to the club. This is a common problem.

I need to keep the bar straight and bring it down equally, my first lifts I was dropping the bar unevenly.

Huh? What are you talking about here? The “down” portion of the DL? Just do a controlled drop. Don’t waste energy doing anything fancy. As long as your hands are in contact with the bar when it hits the floor, you’re good.
Looks like you had a blast at your party, and that dinner you had sounds awesome!
soldog - despite the many notes overall form was nice - nothing like my squat issues. Hell 2 outta 3 aint bad.
Mim - Theres just something so dirty and simple about the tire flips. Taps into my “fun like a kid” zone. As for the rucking I had a very good quality pack sack and I tried to distribute the weight a little. ei I had the dumbells standing rather than lying in the bottom. And keep good posture of course, no running.
Cal - Yes, the gym is awesome find. I should have done this eons ago - big thanks to Diana who hooked me up.
N8tive- that sounds like it needs alot of coordination, something I might have very little of after deads and other such things. I’m willing to try it out next flippin time though ![]()
Ink- I think the process is what I enoy the most. I know I am getting better and yet there is still more to learn. If there would have been no progress or worse yet, if I had eveyrthing down pat within the 1st 2 months I probably would not have kept with the game. Challenge and reward is balanced.
Joe - I call it my PL gym but its a strong gym. They have sports players, and also a program for women called “Strong is the new Skinny”. The night I was there 3 girls were doing that program. They were squating and box jumping and sled dragging. It might not appeal to me but I understand they are targeting another type of member and it works well and the girls had fantastic legs and buts. None of those skinny twig things. At the other end you had the big guys squatting for the strongman - shit loads of weights. Loved it!
Nadia & Nikki - yeah I role like dat ![]()
Snap - i was doing a controlled drop except perhaps not controlled enough and I got called out for not dropping evenly. Never heard of that issue before but I made a point of trying to make the “fall” sound better.
Chi - the husband had the leftovers 2 nigths in a row with no complaints. I bet if I had made enough for the week he would have kept right on eating it. To me that is the mark of a good recipe.
So I had planned to hit the gym yesterday but it was a long one at work. This week will probably be the same throughout, just a big busy one to plow through and then it’s back to regular schedualing. Maybe today. We shall see how things go.

I hope this catches on, Frenchie.
Vikings like our wimmenz strong.
I like that “strong is the new skinny.”
sounds like something I should try and start up in my gym. Seeing as how the compound movement group class thingy I was trying to come up got brushed off.
Thanks for the tips about rucking. I just have a plain back-pack(jansport) and loaded with 2 25lb plates.

Rucking sounds like Scooby Doo telling shaggy about his exploits.
Mim - at least try get a backpack that has a snap accross the chest and waist to keep the bag snug accross your back.
Edgy - tihi! I kept wondering why I thought rucking sounded naughty and you just put your finger on it.
just a pic of Frenchie-fatal heading out to work. I’ve never enjoyed my hips as much as I do now, I should have known having the shoulders to balance them out was all I needed. Anyways, back to work. TN was my 5 minute lunch break. You guys always make my day.

can’t wait for this week to be over. No gym after all. and tomorrow won’t happen either. I made a gym date with a work buddy on friday night which will hopefully happen.
There is always next week right? just glad I was able to hit the PL gym before the work storm hit.

Last leg of this long week. We are setting up our booths at the trade show today and playing host throughout the weekend. Sunday we teardown and then back to regular programming.
I am going to sound incredibly vain but the company t-shirts make the girls look pretty awful. I’ll post a pic later as proof.
LWI (for Ink and DF)
