Frenchie's Fromage

I have 3ft long 4inch thick pipe…(that sounds bad!)

depends…! lol

Remind me again why you’re in squat rehab? If memory serves me correctly, your squats were looking damn good.

they are sweet.

Foam rolling HURTS! I do it occasionally & it is not the type of fun that I relate to rolling around on the floor to be.

ya…squat rehab? didn’t you just max out recently?

As I am I total newbie to doing the proper warm up and cool down I’ll start with foam and graduate to pipe. Unless someone is willing to poste pic of their pipe so I know what the hell I need to buy at Home Depot.

Mim!! Ha YA doin

Snap & company : apparently I was so focused on depth it was screwing with my form. My knees travel way to much in front of my feet due tight hammies. My ass is practically dead weight and my hammies are inexistant in the equation. I know because practicing the right way, just bodyweight stuff a dozen times a day is making my hammies sore.

here’s recent vid for reference

she kept telling me to sit back and I was thinking if I sit back anymore I’m going to fall on my ass.

just go and get a piece of a.b.s pipe about 2 feet long. an inch and a half diameter… more if you like it thicker…

Form look good until you reach the bottom, then I see what you mean about the knees and the “dead weight” and hammies.

As for a pipe, just a 3 or 4" diameter piece of PVC pipe will do, 24" long should do. That’s what I got, anyway and it works great wrapped in athletic tape to keep me from sliding on it at all.

Thanks guys. I’ll try hitting the home depot this weekend. It’s a little weird rolling around on the gym foam. I have to not think of the others that have been there before me.lol

Kept this evening nice and light since this is my 2nd night in a row and tomorrow I’m hitting the PL gym for 3 hours. Tonight’s session lasted an hour and 5 minutes including the stretch and foaming.

Pullups with 2 bands 4x5, 3,2 - I haven’t done these in a while. Just to damn frustrating since I managed like 2 unassisted, gained 10lbs and now I have to start all over. The trick is getting those in first in my workouts.

Barbell Glute Bridges 185 lbs 3x10

Bench feet flat on floor
95lbs 1x8
115lbs 1x8
135 1x3, 1x2 - had issues keeping my arch and unracking…

Facepulls 45lbs 3x10.

Dumbell shoulder press 30lbs 3x8.

practiting bodyweight squat stance about a dozen times.

Stretch achiles and hammies. Foam roll.

Nice quickie… as most quickies are.

Ooh 3 hours in PL gym… that sounds like VOLUME! I’m so there ;D

Great posts, great pics and great deads…all good things.

And about the squats. I think it is a great thing you are doing. in the past I have done similar things and it has always made me stronger int he long run. Kind of a 2 steps back = 3 steps forward thing. form and using your body mechanics properly will eventually always beat out brute strength and keep you so much safer in the long run.

Your doing great mainey! inspiring to always get better!

Oh and, thanks for the suggestion about writing topics. what do YOU think about the pics on the main page? I have already started something about it.

Nikki - volume yes but also stretching, warmup, being taught and taking turns. Last time we’d bench each our turn. for a rest period. Not sure what tonight will bring but I’m looking forward to it.

Alpha - It’s not easy starting over again but atleast I’m in the right place to do it. I’ve been doing this for five years whats a few more for learning how to do it properly.

As for the athletes in the first page…

honestly I have a very “laissez-faire” nature. Live and let live as long as all parties are consensual and mature enough to make take that decision with the full weight of the consequences…

Now if you want to take nekkid pics of olympians I will not argue that they are athletes but I might argue the need to promote them nekkid. Especially when this type of advertisement is usually not done for the guys. What I see here is a double standard.

Once in a blue moon the mods will throw in there a picture of a woman whom “I deem” has an athletic build. Personally I want to see a little muscle, some definition. Not a bunch of fake boobies. I can, on the other hand stand back and say the problem in this statement is the “I”. The subjectivity of the criteria. What is an athletic look for one, what is an athlete for one, may not be for another. One thing I know FOR Sure is that fake anything does not enhance performance. Does that NOT make them athletes?? Again not an objective criteria…

Part of me will concede that it takes some work to acheive the look but the other part argues that they place the results or the looks before the workout in importance… An athlete would choose the sport as the priority.
But then again some of us in PW workout for the results… schizophrenic me??

At the end of the day the Athlete will place his sport above most if not all things in his life. An athlete is about performance over esthetics. Those women are mostly, I say mostly because I have seen a curve ball or two, models. Models need to live a certain lifestyle in order to have a marketable image. This includes an attention to nutrition and exercise. But athletes No.

I would like to propose a poll: what is MOST important to you guys? The lifting or how it makes you look? And do you consider yourself an Athlete?

For most of us it’s both but I would like you to say which is the number 1.

For myself :hitting PRs is the biggest high, hitting them with good form is Poetry. And although I give 5-10 hours a week to lifting I certainly don’t consider myself an Athlete. That title should be earned. I’m not saying the mods should remove the girlies. Only, let’s be honest here. There are a hundred names I would call that section and none of them is Athlete. Fitness Models is even a polite one.

Why don’t you tell us how you really feel

In regards to your poll: Definitely a combination of both, although I’d say that the feeling of accomplishment after hitting a PR is a better feeling than that of how I feel I look. Now I feel that training has made me look better, but it’s from hitting PR’s and smashing weights around that’s done it, so I can’t NOT give all the credit where it’s due. Lifting es numero uno.

For me getting stronger is the MOST important thing, followed very closely by being athlete - since I feel getting stronger and being an athlete almost go hand in hand. I do a lot of playing, mtn biking, skiing, basketball, 5k, 10k’s etc it is important that I am able to move.

I seem to have found a fair balance in this pursuit but sometimes trying to get stronger gets in the way of playing - tsk. tsk. for me there but balance is one of the HARDEST things in life to achieve - at least I think.

Can I just rando post in here real quick?

I gotta say, your husband is one lucky kat.

For most of my adult life I didn’t view myself as an athlete. I do now–thanks to Harry Selkow. When I was working towards my pullup goal, I was getting (virtual) help from him. And he did a very simple thing early on in our email corresondence–he called me an athlete. NOt wanting to mislead, I almost wrote back and said no, no, no, I’m not that.

I’m a middle aged woman, wife, mother, but he already knew all that. It took some time, but as I dedicated myself to my training, and as I pushed myself to achieve, I came to be able to see myself the way he saw me. Oh yeah, I’m not just a mother, a wife, an ee. I have this inside of me too.

For me, every woman on this board is an athlete. I have no doubt about that. The goals of our training may be different-but we train and we train with purpose–deliberately, consistently and with an eye towards achievement.

Okay my answer is a qualified how I look. What I mean is that if by gaining five pound of fat I could put 50lbs on all my lifts I’d be willing to do it. But I wouldn’t be willing to gain 20lbs of fat to put 100lbs on all of them.

"I would like to propose a poll: what is MOST important to you guys? The lifting or how it makes you look? And do you consider yourself an Athlete? "

Most important to me is my health, feeling good with myself, i personally don’t care about the numbers, i don’t compete, i lift for myself, i used to play sport at a very high level ( a lifetime ago) and have nothing to prove, doesn’t mean i don’t push hard. i workout so i can do my job.
