Free Standing Punch Bag

If you train at home, you have to accept that you probably won’t come anywhere near the skill level that could be acquired by training with a trainer. You can’t just “figure out by yourself” how to hold your hand and generate good power, form, and defense without being pointed in the right direction and given an opponent to spar with. As to a heavy bag, what’s your budget? Top of the line bag stand would probably be BalazBoxing (www.balazboxing.com). TKO makes a bag stand that’s much more affordable, but the legs get in the way of the bag swinging if you start working combos. I wouldn’t personally recommend a free standing sand/water base bag stand, such as the wavemaster. Unless you go for the serious industrial size ones or figure out a better way to attach it to the floor, you’ll have no trouble knocking it over with a decent cross when you develop power, much less kicks. I also wouldn’t recommend a “Bob” style bag. They are usefull once you have developed form and power, but if you try to work one without these two things already in place, your form generally falls apart.
