Fractured Tibia and After Effects

A few years ago I injured my shin bone racking 315lb. on a bench. All the squat racks were occupied with teenagers doing curls, so I decided to do bent over rows on a bench. I pulled the bar off the rack, I did my set, then as I’m re-racking the 315lb, I kick the support beam under the bench with my shin while holding the weight. Excrutiating pain resulted from this and a giant hematoma the size of a golf ball grew. I didn’t go to the doctor, since there wouldn’t much he could do.

Now, years later there’s a big dent in the bone where this happened, a squiggly varicose vein in that spot, and even some freckling of the skin. Sometimes the bone throbs really bad in that spot if I stand for too long. Anyone else experience varicose veins or freckling of the skin in the site of an injury? I might be a hypocondriac, but can’t cancer form in the site of an old injury?

That’s not how cancer works.

What you’re experiencing are just the results of an old injury. Varicose veins are just the result of incompetent valves in veins (blood flow through veins is very passive and requires valves, working muscles and pressure differences to return to the heart). Varicose veins are inheritable or it’s possible you damaged a vein when you ding’d your leg.

Freckles…you spend any time in the sun?

As far as the throbbing, etc it’s possible there’s a bone chip or something hanging out that’s causing trouble still.

But cancer, seriously doubt it.
