As I believe they are, T-Nation should be gratified that people have such strong opinions on these types of things because it demonstrates how near and dear to them the site has become.
Truth in that. People fight about the things that they feel a passion for. While the Biotest folk may be feeling a bit battered by the feedback, if nothing else it’s proof that people have come to really invest in this community they’ve created.
Also, there appears to be a bit of hysteria going on here, especially from the girls. I don’t know why the changes can’t be given like 15 minutes chance before the cacophonous chorus of condemnation.
I think it’s more the way they were introduced than anything else. While that banner in the middle may be awfully big and colourful, it also blends in with the standard advertising that’s taken up that spot for some time now.
Plus people tend to search based on expectation, and folks expect the links to be either at the top of the page, or in the forums list to the left of the posts. Additionally, you don’t see it if you just click on an e-mail notification link dealing with a thread you’re participating in. So I’d hazzard to guess that most people just looked right past that link.
People like to feel included. Part of the community has been split off. For good reason perhaps, but the split remains. The initial confusion just fostered the “wtf?” sentiment rather than the “cool new toy!” sentiment.
Besides what’s really important is that my beloved Red Wings win game three tonight =] Jist kiddin… kinda
I must hate you now.
Of course, if Calgary doesn’t get off their asses and actually skate for the puck, you’re likely to get your wish.

Well the banner has been there for weeks and we were not required to use it as a link. I know I for one did not even think to click on it looking for the sorority…
And yeah I also think it is more of a “WTF” as well…I am sure that when all is said and done we will adjust – but I still don’t like it right now.
