Nice work Skipper. I hope the weight falls off easily and you’re all cut up for this summer.[/quote]

Thanks, Steve.

As of right now, I am down 2.4# from last week. I weigh on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as I am checking for a pattern. On Friday I normally weigh x. On Saturday, after Friday night’s Pizza and Jack and Coke, I usually weigh the same or a tad less. On Sunday, I am the lightest…x - (1 or 2#). My theory is that I am heavier on Friday because I worked out the night before and my muscles are holding water while trying to repair/recover. This is my theory since I know I am not losing 2# every week between Friday and Sunday. But that is what the scale shows.

Even if the weight falls off, only part of me will ever be cut up. Too many years of carrying too much weight for my torso to ever be ripped. Legs, arms and shoulders are a different story, however.

I think we are following a similar weight loss plan. I am pretty much following Tate’s plan.

Wow! Nice work. Are you sure you’re not secretly trying to become a bodybuilder?

Lol…I am taking this strength lull as an opportunity to lose weight and, hopefully, add a little muscle…what with my medium frame and all. (You might have arrived too recently to get that one)

I have to admit, though, PRs aside, I much prefer these types or workouts. Where I finish and I am exhausted, my muscles burn and I am almost non-functional for a bit.

Looking good strick, and nice to have you back one a regular basis!

The just eat less plan. I’ve been sticking to it fairly well. Not gorging like I was. And my intake of alcohol is almost zero. Only had some last weekend.

Thanks, Schmidt.
Steve, most of my “less” is simply no sugar and diminished simple carbs.

Hey…what happened to OldGoat? He just signed off. Did I miss something?

You know as much as we do - his note sounded pretty final.

BTW - it’s good to see you around these parts again.

IT takes a lot of discipline to time your rest between sets and lifts.

Nice work Skip
nice to see you back at it.

Thanks, George and Kevin. It is good to be back. Even if the lifting is slightly off.
Joe, I cheat. I usually drag my wife in there and make her the clock mistress. She calls out my times. When she isn’t there, I have to carry the burden. Thank God for a good wife.

Sunday fun…

Nothing great to report. No weight or rep PRs, no surprise visits from the OU cheerleaders, no winning of the mega millions.
BUT, for the 1st time in at least a couple of months, the weight felt manageable, for lack of a better word. It didn’t feel overly heavy and like I was always just on the cusp of losing it…even at lighter weights. HOPEFULLY, this is a sign that I am about to break out of my lull.

Also, it is apparent that my work capacity is increasing. I was able to slightly increase the weight, maintain the rep count and add a set to several exercises. Weight needs to go up again next week.

Bench - Main Exercise

Done and done.

Oh yeah…finally saw 286# on the scale, this weekend, for the 1st time in over a year. Down 12#.

Nice training and as my daughter says, 'grats on the weight loss!

Thanks, Wilson. Good to see you out and about.

Oh…and we are FINALLY supposed to get some snow! 5-11", or there about. It is about damned time. Unfortunately, that probably won’t be enough to keep me from going to work. Come on freezing rain!

Congratulations on the weight loss and it’s good to see the extra volume is having an effect.

Nice to see you back at it with a vengeance.

Thanks, Brett. I still don’t have the intensity that I did before…not sure what is uo with that…but it is fun to burn down the house every workout.

WooHoo! Snow!
Started sleeting last night and got about a 2" base. Then the snow started. I would guess that we have 6 - 8" of snow. It is still snowing but should be winding down within the hour.

I was going to go on into work, as the road in front of my house didn’t look too bad. I called a co-worker, who lives about 200 yard away, to see what he was doing. Turns out, he was already out. He had gotten out around 7:00 a.m., to check the roads and got stuck at the end of his street. There was/is 6-8" of snow on the streets, plus the sleet. I loaded my youngest and daughter in the SUV (AWD) and went to help him back to his house. We decided that it wasn’t worth trying to get out of the neighborhood. Especially since it was still snowing like crazy and would only get worse.

But it is too cold to enjoy it. Wind chill is running -12 to -20. I’m gonna drag the kids out after I workout, but I don’t think it will last long.

Pic from the brief foray outside…
That is a snowdrift…not actual depth. And, yes, she is standing.

Grrrrrrr… I get angry that someone, ANYONE, is hoping for snow. The piles at the edges of my driveway are as tall as I am and it is making me grumpy.

Congrats on the weight loss. And your point about increasing work capacity is huge. Cool things are on the horizon!

Lol…C_K, you gotta understand that I grew up in Georgia. I was in south GA, until I was almost 12 and in north GA until I was 27.
The only time snow ever fell, until I was 12, we got about 1/32". I was 8 and they let us out of school for the rest of the day, because it was so rare. Even in north GA, I can only remember 2 or 3 noteworthy frozen precips…over 15 years.
When it snows, I revert. Just making up for lost time.

Yep, right now, work capacity is the key. Who cares what I can bench, if I can’t walk up a flight of stairs without sucking wind.

You shouldn’t leave your family members outside overnight like that. They’ll spoil and the resale value goes down.
