No worries, OG. Those horns do wonders at keeping away predators

My boiled peanut binge is over. My stomach thanks me.
I have just enough in the freezer, though, to enjoy a quart bag every college football Saturday. It is going to be a good season…
you know - it wouldn’t cost that much to get somebody to ship you box every now and then after you run out…

I’d love to be mountain strong but right now I think it’s more like anthill…
Normally, my Dad, or uncles, will ship me about 1/3 - 1/2 of a bushel in the late Summer. The problem is, unless they overnight them (which they don’t, because of cost), they mold during transport. I can wash them off, prior to boiling, but there is still the slightest hint of the mold taste.

So…I have to conserve. It is okay, though. I can eat A LOT of them, when not regulated, and my stomach pays the price. I wiped out almost 4 one quart bags worth in the 1st 2 days. So it is better this way

Yes it is. My plan is to get up early and do GPP then go eat breakfast so that I have enough calories to do as little moving as possible from the 11:00am kick off until the PAC/Mountain West games wrap up about midnight.
Joe, that sounds like an EXCELLENT plan! Go 'Bama, Roll Tide! SEC! SEC! SEC!
Do you or Harry live anywhere near (off of) highway 280, south of Birmingham? I drove that route, going down to Waycross, and it is a really beautiful drive. I’d never been on it before.

“Leg” Day -

As mentioned in Rug’s log, I am abandoning any weighted leg work, as my back is playing hell. I am sticking with body weight leg/lower back work and adding in core work. Once I lose my gut, and strengthen my core, I will give weighted work another go. From there, I’ll play it by ear.

Lots of static stretching…upper and lower body

BW Squats
25x4

weighted side bends
50x20x3 per side

Crunches
20x3

dislocatesx10x2
windmillsx10x2

BW GMs
20x3

MP tomorrow. Hopefully some of my umph has returned.

I applaud the heck out of that, Strick. Work arounds are the key to life, Find what you can do and do it instead of walking away from it…We all need to be reminded of that ( or at least I do)…Well done.

Thanks, OG. I am trying to be smart about it…for a change

Shoulders -

My strength seems to be returning, slowly. It was a tough workout. I still have no desire to be lifting. Broke my damned momentum last week. I have just been forcing myself to get in there until I get motivated again.

Upper and Lower body static stretching

Military Press
barx15
95x10
135x10
165x5
195x5
215x5
235x3 - PR +2 Reps - Joe would call this a cheap PR. I think I’ll just go with PR.
205x5

** - I seem to be slightly bending my right knee, on the heavier sets. It snaps straight as I start to push, but there is no upward movement of my shoulders (until rep 3 @ 235), when it happens. Funny thing is that it is only my right knee. My left keeps pretty much the same position. So it is not a push press. I think it must have something to do with balancing myself. Not sure…
On the last set (205x5), I intentionally keep my knees locked, but my legs still wriggle around. Again, I think it is a balance thing.

BB Shrugs
225x20x3 - still not loading the back

DB Laterals
40sx10x3

Reverse Flyes
40sx10x3

That’s it. Triceps ache. Hope that my mojo returns soon, cause this sucks!

Let’s see: no mojo, no momentum, feeling weak…and a PR! Um, so thats what I am missing.

Nice Military pressing. I couldn’t touch your lifts in that if I had help. Nice strong shoulders.

Nice going on the MP’s. A PR is a PR, and they rarely come cheap!

It’s the stubbornness, OG. Being hardheaded has its perks. As a goat, and an old one at that, I am sure that you can relate.

SG - thanks. Millies are my best lift. And I am not complaining. It is nice to be pretty good at one of them. As far as you doing it, I am sure it is not far away. You are putting up good numbers.

Schmidt - I agree. Never look a gift PR in the mouth.

Thanks, all.

Great job  You going to post this on the Race thread?

I can post it there, but it is not a new max…just a PR.
Are we posting PRs there? Or just new maxes?

Nice PR. It looks like you survived your vay-k. And I think if we are posting s-talk in the race thread, you might as well post PRs. That will give us more opportunities for s-talk.

Posted. Please feel free to annihilate.

Chest and Triceps -

Static Stretching - upper body and lower back

Bench
barx15x2
95x10
135x10
185x5
225x5
275x5
300x5
315x5
325x3

3 Board Press
375x3
390x3
405x2 - ran out of gas on rep 2

Pushdowns - elbows out
110x10
130x10
140x10
160x7

Face Pulls
100x12x3

Felt stronger and more in the rhythm, today. Not quite back to where I was, but much closer. Unfortunately, my endurance is still down. On all bench sets at or above 300#, I ran out of gas before strength. Frustrating, but correctable.

good job on the 3 board

Your bench is unstoppable brother. Keep climbin’!

Thanks, gents. I am working on it.

Question: Am I the only one whose traps hurt after benching? I get a really good ache after every bench session.

I can’t bench enough for my traps to hurt. good lifting.

I’ve seen your bench numbers…yes, you can.
You’re just in much better shape than I am.
