For the Haters of DW

I completely agree with this. He has disregarded and dismissed a lot of helpful criticism. If he gets hurt, it’s his fault. So let him get hurt, maybe he’ll learn then. Even Jesse has told him to lower his weights. I don’t follow his log, and I haven’t seen any recent videos so I don’t know if he listened.
Where are you getting all of this?

a) What helpful criticism have I disregarded or dismissed besides the brilliant (see: generic) advice of using less weight?

b) When has Jesse ever told me lower the weights? He gave me a few exercise suggestions in person, such as romanian deadlift and strict overhead press.

c) “So let him get hurt, maybe he’ll learn then.”

It sounds like you actually want me to get hurt. If that’s true, you have serious problems.

d) If you don’t follow my log or watch my recent videos, everything you just posted is null and void.

LOL

DW,
I’m glad that you don’t listen to all these people critisizing you all the time. You and I and quite a few other people know how powerful you really are and you prove it all the time with your videos regardless of form. I see your form improving all the time. Most of the people on this site couldn’t even come close to alot of your lifts and most of those peopl weigh a heck of alot more than you. Good luck at your contest this weekend. Bigeric

Thanks, bro. I’ll do my best.

Ease up, tough guy, I actually support you.
a) What helpful criticism have I disregarded or dismissed besides the brilliant (see: generic) advice of using less weight?
In the past; in the thread you posted before. Yes a lot of the advice was “generic” but the form onsome of your lifts was so horrible that you needed to start with generic advice. I think your form has improved beyond generic advice now (at least last time I looked).
b) When has Jesse ever told me lower the weights? He gave me a few exercise suggestions in person, such as romanian deadlift and strict overhead press.
No. I don’t wish anyone to get hurt. That line was more in response to the people who obsess over your every little lifting error. It my way of telling to let them do your thing. I guess I didn’t get my point across.

This exact line is why people take issue with you. If everything I said is “null and void” why even respond? You are far too quick on the defense.

I’m not as obsessed with the DeezWeez as some other people around here, so I don’t religiously follow your log. I apologize. I can, however comment on anything I want, and most of want I commented on was what has happened in the past. Cool?

Yeah, that’s fine. No worries.

What I meant to post was “No, the last drag felt like the full 320lbs and the previous drags felt like the respective weights of those sets.”

You avoided my question regarding your experience with the sled drag. Are you an armchair lifter?

I’m sure it did in fact feel heavy, but in reality, it was the equivalent of pulling 64 lbs vertically; henceforth one reason you will never see me doing sled drags on asphalt. And I prefer to work out with futons and love seats, armchairs have a nasty habit of unfolding in the middle of a lift with the footrest releasing at incovenient times.

But he is dragging horizontally also, so that needs to be taken into account with the work of kinetic and static friction. We need coefficients. But yes, DW, you’re not actually “pulling 320 lbs,” you’re pulling much less than that according to the laws of physics. Forcecos(FN) = horizontal, Forcesin(FN) = vertical. I believe
A physics debate breaks out in the strength section, how fascinating.
When you figure out your angle, I take it that you are looking at the angle of the rope makes to the ground, correct?
The only problem with this, is that we are not talking about a leg press machine where the legs travel in the same direction in a straight line. In other words you have a perfect vector.

Here you have three vectors: one being the fact that the weight is travelling in a straight line on a horizontal plane; the other being the angle of the rope that connects the man to the weight, and the third one which is the man travelling in a straight line like the weight is. Plus we have frictional coefficients to add into the mix. You need to add three force vectors to come up with how much weight that he is dragging, plus the friction coefficients which will add force to the movement.

I also sled drag for an ME exercise on flat top. I don’t use my hands unless I need some extra help, as I keep it through my belt. 320 for 50 feet is pretty good for a sled drag. After seeing him do it, I was curious where I fit in so I did 308 pounds for 80 feet.
I have a deadlift that is similar to his, but maybe a little less, but with better form, lol.

I’ve seen a lot of DW’s videos and sure some of the suff he’s done is horrible and its hard to see how he did not hurt himself but in my opinion this guy should be commended. This is obviously someone who loves to lift and challenge himself. Sure he could do it with better form but the fact of the matter he is doing it and he’s out there competing as well which to me is what its all about. I have no idea what he’s said about the form critiques in the past and I don’t care. Keep jacking the heavy steel and working on your form DW. More importantly keep competing cause that will drive you to get stronger.

Where does this association between me and William Hung originate? I don’t get it.

Also, you know that you definitely have an unhealthy DW obsession when you google my username in the desperate hope of trying to embarass me. Get a hobby, a girlfriend or something.
Yet another gem of a post. Quick! Call Dr. Phil and the Betty Ford Clinic, I just did a Google search for “Budweiser Budvar!”

nice pics. how’d you place ?

I took 2nd out of 2 competitors; it was just me and Robbie Walden from the Sequim Crew in our weight class which was 175.

This is another pic from the competition; it’s my 700lb frame carry.

Those frame carries are brutal, especially for the lighter classes. Good showing.

That’s like last place…right?

But, at least you have the balls to compete.

Yes, it’s 2nd place or last place, however you want to look at it. But it’s cool because Jesse and everyone else (especially Sarge too) were really generous and good people. I also came away with a sword/trophy, big box of Met-Rx protein powder, knowledge and pics. I never did three of the five events before the competition (arm-over-arm vehicle pull, frame carry and atlas stones), so I actually did very well.

man that frame carry looks bad-ass !

did you press that log ?

what are your thoughts on the show and future training ?
