wooo…a steel sled on asphalt…I’m thoroughly unimpressed. What’s the dynamic coefficient of friction for that, 0.2?

WTF are you talking about?

He’s trying to say that it would be very easy to slide the sled on asphalt since there wont be much frictional forces between the metal and the asphalt; like there would be if you were dragging a rubber sled or some shit like that; He was trying to be an asshole in other words.

Nice job at the strongman comp! Good luck with Jesse.
Yeah, people love being a prick online.

Thanks, I’ll do my best.

that would be .2 more impressive than your vid.
I understand that we’ve got the strongman equivalent of William Hung here, but give me a break. Pulling a dog leash with a grand whopping total of 64 lbs of tension for 50 feet is somehow impressive?!? If you think that’s awe-inspiring, I’ll start posting videos of me carrying bags of groceries to my car.

Also, I have given DW (aka: WH II) credit when he actually deserved it. So for everyone who has made this guy their newest charity case, keep that in mind.

64lbs of tension? No, it felt like the full 320lbs or the respective weight of the previous sets. Have you ever done any sled drags or are you just postulating? I believe the latter is the case here.

You proved my point perfectly.

What I meant to post was “No, the last drag felt like the full 320lbs and the previous drags felt like the respective weights of those sets.”

You avoided my question regarding your experience with the sled drag. Are you an armchair lifter?

Cool, I didn’t know you trained with The Unabomber.

I’m sure it did in fact feel heavy, but in reality, it was the equivalent of pulling 64 lbs vertically; henceforth one reason you will never see me doing sled drags on asphalt. And I prefer to work out with futons and love seats, armchairs have a nasty habit of unfolding in the middle of a lift with the footrest releasing at incovenient times.

Once again, you did not answer my question. Do you ever do any sled drags, backward or forward?

Ohh look, a red herring! And no, I don’t do sled drags, because surprise surprise, I get my GPP in other forms. Before you retort thinking that somehow my experience doing a literal exercise in futility (sled drag on asphalt) negates reality and the laws of physics, ummm…how do I put this…it doesn’t. It’s still 64 pounds! You should’ve learned this in highschool.

How are you going to minimize what -I- do, when -you- never even did it before?

I’ve done 450 on a sled with plastic runners (more friction on this plastic than a steel sled) for 100 feet on a slight incline, and I’m a pussy. 320 for 50’ on that type of sled on flat asphalt isn’t very much.

It probably felt tough because of the way you were holding it; you were basically pulling with the left side of your body, as there was a little slack in the nylon between your left and right hands. It would feel a lot easier if you held it the way the Unibomber did, hands close together at the chest.

Best,

-Dan

But he is dragging horizontally also, so that needs to be taken into account with the work of kinetic and static friction. We need coefficients. But yes, DW, you’re not actually “pulling 320 lbs,” you’re pulling much less than that according to the laws of physics. Forcecos(FN) = horizontal, Forcesin(FN) = vertical. I believe

Just because I haven’t done something doesn’t mean I have to be impressed by someone else doing it, especially when it’s not impressive! If you do 50 rep bicep curls with little pink 3lb dumbells, make a video and post it on every weightlifting and bodybuilding site that hasn’t banned you yet, I’m not going to be impressed. I know, I know, it’s probably hard to believe, but I’ve never used the little pink 3lb dumbells either. Shocking, I know.

DW, Make sure that the strap you used to drag the weight is meant for that purpose. If it ripped, you’ll be in a shitload of pain.

Well, I’m a fan. Good luck!

dude who said you had to be impressed ?
it’s not like you’re paying money for this. i’m certainly not “impressed” with this video, the way i am with the rezazadeh vid for instance, but i’m still glad it’s there and i hope to see more of them. i’m glad dw is taking the time to share, and i’m gaining exposure to new things like strongman competitions, training grip strength through tearing and bending, and who jesse marunde is because of it.

i really don’t get you old fucking dumbasses who don’t get the internets. newsflash buddy:

media isn’t a rare and special thing anymore.

there’s plenty of room to post stuff that isn’t a world record. in fact posting something you did yesterday, like blowing your nose, on the internets has become as completely common as stepping outside your front door and saying hi to the mailman. sharing your life on the net today is a simple and basic social tool. which i know probably doesn’t fit into your narrow little reality either because it somehow involves relating to another being.

dude really, go the fuck away.
there’s obviously nothing interesting for you here except the oportunity to whine about how bored and unimpressed you are like you’re paris fuckin hilton you stuck-up blase-bitch. do yourself a favor, man up, make better use of your time, and change the frickn channel already.

I nominate this for post of the week.

I must confess, I am becoming a DW fan.

Keep posting.

Hey edgecrusher, let’s make a deal:

I will admit to being a weak bitch if you stop posting in my threads.

How does that sound?

Alright, that made me laugh.
