Oh Jesus. Any wonder he gets flamed?

Please, you are not being praised for your size, you are being praised for your strengh. So please do not confuse the two.

You competed in the lightest weight class for that contest which was 40lbs over what you weigh now. The fact that you could be competitive there is great. You are not tiny? No, that is not for sure. I’d think you’d only been working out on and off for less than a year if I had seen you walking down the street and not deadlifting.

Relative strength is great, but that’s what makes you special. Your strength for the fact that you are pretty tiny. Not “look pretty good.”

And?..

Is that supposed to prove your point about not being tiny?

In any case, I hope that you learn some humility from Jesse and his team. If you act like you do on these forums, you probably won’t need a ticket back. I’m sure Jesse will power clean you all the way back to NJ.

To this day, I don’t think DW has really given any apprecation for the help that people have offered on the boards, nor has he admitted any of his “wrong-doings.” I don’t care if he wins the next WSM, if he doesn’t change, he’s still a prick in my book.

Hope you learn some good stuff.

  1. I don’t live in NJ. I don’t know where you got that info. I’m in Queens, NY.

  2. I already chilled for a few hours with Jesse when he was in NYC recently for a Met-Rx photo shoot. He didn’t have any problems with me or my attitude then and he certainly seems to be an ally, considering he raised a bunch of money for me to compete on the 15th. I also get along very well with him and everyone else on the Marunde-Muscle forums. Why would he power clean me home?

Well, I’ll certainly tip my hat to strong work when I see it. Good luck with the upcoming competition.

  3. My bad, Queens then.

  4. I don’t doubt you’ve made a good impression. Obviously that’s why he cares enough to raise the money for you. My point of him powercleaning you home was contingent of you acting the same way that made everyone else want to strangle you on many forums. And it doesn’t matter to me that he likes you. I still don’t like your attitude.

I’ve already said that you have determination, but I’m not going to declare that I like you simply because Jesse Marunde does.

Best of luck in competition. I enjoyed seeing your last strongman comp vid, I’m sure we can look forward to another good one.

My only critique would be on the deadlift, you seem to use your hips to soon in the movement which leaves only your back to do most of the lifting. Your legs and hips are pretty much out of the lift before the log even reaches your knees. I think if you worked on getting the bar higher before pushing through with your hips, you would find your able to lift more (or in this case complete more reps).

Other than that, I am pretty impressed by this video. Finishing 7th out of 113 in a weight class 45 lbs. heavier than you are is impressive.

Thanks. Yeah, that log deadlift was awkward as hell. Most of the competitors had trouble with it, whether they were deadlifting it (LW) or clean and pressing it (MW and HW).

DW - I don’t know if you are a dickhead or not. You do come off as a little arrogant, but I would too if I had your relative strength.

Seriously, though, my back hurt just watching those deads with the log. Did you have any pain / soreness from that? Is that your normal form, or is it just the log being so far out in front that put you into that grove?

I use to have a w/out partner that did trap bar deads with me, and he could not get his ass down to save his life. His form was a lot like yours. He could go deep on sqats, though. Weird.

gist.

5 bucks for tickets and it’s at the auburn performing arts expo

right?

Yeah, like I stated earlier, the log was very awkward and that’s not how I normally deadlift.

The only pain that I had was in my shins because they were scraped and bloody like a mofo after that event.

CU: I don’t know the specifics yet.

dw you are fucking rock and roll !
i’ve enjoyed everything you’ve posted, it’s all good shit. you’re like the bukowski of lifting. the thelonius monk of strongman. that godsmack tune “best i ever did” should be your theme song. keep it up man.

Here’s a new video, in case anyone cares:

wooo…a steel sled on asphalt…I’m thoroughly unimpressed. What’s the dynamic coefficient of friction for that, 0.2?

man cut him some slack, at least he is trying.

Can anyone direct me to the thread that everyone is talking about where DW slammed people trying to help him?

I’d like to judge for myself.

He’s trying to say that it would be very easy to slide the sled on asphalt since there wont be much frictional forces between the metal and the asphalt; like there would be if you were dragging a rubber sled or some shit like that; He was trying to be an asshole in other words.

Nice job at the strongman comp! Good luck with Jesse.
