For the Haters of DW
sensless wrote:

But then why post on an internet forum if you’re just going to ignore everyone’s advice?

But he didn’t ignore everyone’s advice. He listened and responded decently to the people that respectfully responded instead of ripping on him first, then providing input. Also, many of the people on here don’t compete in strongman and really are clueless when it comes to what it takes for the sport. It just happened that there were 4 zillion responses to his posts so he had a lot of BS to try to wade through to get to decent stuff. If I were him, I’d have ignored the BS and only tried to respond to the other stuff. On top of that, he can post the stuff, see who responds, and then pick and choose who he wants to listen to. It’s his perogative.

What qualifications do any of us have to give him advice, beyond saying, “I’ve lifted for 12 years.” or some such blather? Some people have credentials more than this, but most of the people who ripped on him do not. I don’t see any reason to not ignore those people.

Just out of curiousity, what made that log deadlift so tough anyway? Did it have a thick handle or something?
No, it didn’t have a thick handle. It was a lot more tough than a barbell because it was too far in front of the body and it was also heavier on one end.

I’ve been there . . .

I could say . . . we’ve raised the money LoL

he’s got the ticket and some extra for protein shakes that he badly needs!

DW bring it on!!!

Good Luck to You!

Thanks, but I think I look pretty good. I have room for growth, but I’m not tiny, that’s for sure.

I watched the video and i have to say that looked like a shit planned event. What made it so hard? Grab a couple 150lb dumbells longways and drag them up your shins… No thanks!

I’ll donate money if you’ll put your shirt back on.

DieselWeasel

I NEVER said you were tiny!!

Only that need some extra protein shakes!

I agree 100% with UtahLama and Matgic.

Max received good advice by people who were not flaming him, and Max took it as an insult and retaliated with ignorance and insults.

Yes he’s strong for his size, and yes his form improved FINALLY long after it should have.

It’s like the kid in high school who is known for being lazy or a class clown, then starts getting his act together, and gets noticed and gets tons of praise and respect from teachers.

Then the kids who have been good students all along don’t get noticed because it’s expected of them. And the whole time the kid doing well in school is busting his ass to maintain his grades and clean record.

Same thing in the military. The kid who always has an attitude problem and is always getting in trouble starts acting like an adult and gets all kinds of praise for it.

Yes, it was a clusterfuck, mainly because they changed just about all of the events that we did. Despite that, it was still fun as hell.

Look at the distance between my hands and my thighs during that log deadlift compared to an oly bar deadlift. That’s what made it so difficult.

Oh yea, and there was a whole lot of avoiding questions he didn’t want to answer and side tracking from conversations he didn’t want to talk about.

I guess his form is the only thing that changed so far.

Oh Jesus. Any wonder he gets flamed?

Please, you are not being praised for your size, you are being praised for your strengh. So please do not confuse the two.

You competed in the lightest weight class for that contest which was 40lbs over what you weigh now. The fact that you could be competitive there is great. You are not tiny? No, that is not for sure. I’d think you’d only been working out on and off for less than a year if I had seen you walking down the street and not deadlifting.

Relative strength is great, but that’s what makes you special. Your strength for the fact that you are pretty tiny. Not “look pretty good.”

What dickhead attitude?

I already received more than enough money from the generous people on Jesse’s board to compete on the 15th, along with extra for food and lodging.

And?..

Is that supposed to prove your point about not being tiny?

In any case, I hope that you learn some humility from Jesse and his team. If you act like you do on these forums, you probably won’t need a ticket back. I’m sure Jesse will power clean you all the way back to NJ.

To this day, I don’t think DW has really given any apprecation for the help that people have offered on the boards, nor has he admitted any of his “wrong-doings.” I don’t care if he wins the next WSM, if he doesn’t change, he’s still a prick in my book.

Hope you learn some good stuff.
