Food Log

How detailed should a food Log be? I know I should write down everything I eat, should I log everything I can or only basic things like Protein and total calories (eating Clean)

Depends on what you’re trying to do. For fat loss, I’ve found its helpful to log protein, carbs, fat (by type, mono, poly, sat), total cals, and fiber. That way, if you hit a sticking point, you can fine tune your intake more easily. For gaining or maintaining, I normally just focus on protein and total intake, since I’m eating cleanly enough to not have to worry about the other factors.

I have a good food log spreadsheet

did I send that to you?

I just list

Protein
Fat
Carbs
Cals

I’m aware of total kcals and protein, and if I cheat while dieting, I’ll mark that down so I know what’s hampering my progress (if my progress was hampered that week- sometimes it isn’t).

I use Fitday.com. It records everything for me. I can access it anywhere, any time.

To piggyback on what ninja asked, why do you need to know? Trying to lose fat, or get enough protein, then by all means record.

You won’t be the only one obsessing over numbers.
