Hey guys,
So I just watched Food Inc yesterday and I thought it was a really great documentary. No offence to the USA and maybe the documentary was a little biased but you guys live in one F**D up country! And I’m kinda glad that HFCS is banned in the UK! I currently live in Egypt and when I buy chicken I can go and choose the one I want when it’s alive, 20 mins later I go back and the chicken is plucked and gutted and still warm ready for cooking. And the veg isn’t uniformly coloured and I know when I buy it it’s fresh and not travelled half way round the world!
Just wanted to know if anyone else had any thoughts on it??

Kindly Fuck Off. I mean that in the most respectful way.

Ye it’s about meat production and how crazily corn controls things. And Rockscar if you read my post properly instead of like and inbred, you’ll see it says no offence. If you saw the documentary you’d realise where I was coming from.

Corn is very cheap to produce, so that is why everything is fed corn or mixed in with HFCS. I am not saying that is right, but it is a large cheap source of food. If rice could be made into HFRiceS then we might make that instead. The SE Asians would kill for that. Sugar is much more expensive to make. I will say sugar tastes much better to me than HFCS unless it is in a nice Texas Pecan Pie. Might not be on my diet, but man is that stuff good in a Pecan Pie. I digress. Corn is cheap, Wheat, Sugar, are much more expensive.

You obviously can’t tell a joke…“Inbred”…nice prejudice though…+10 for you!
Maybe you should look at the price to produce corn. Yes corns can produce more useable food per acre than any other grain or any plant for that matter but the system we have now can not be maintained indefinitely, we are using more water than rains each year. Also the amount of petroleum it takes in its production is another draw back. Corn is so cheap because the government pays farms to over produce it. Corn is sold at below the price it takes to produce it, that is the reason it can be used in so many ways because nothing else can compete. Most beef fed a corn diet will not live long. They slaughter the cow only months before it will die naturally from the food.
Alright done with my rant, talk about this with a close friend quite a bit. His family owns a large organic farm and they produce a lot of produce and close to normal veggie prices. Also they raise grass fed beef in a sustainable manner.
Havent watched Food Inc. But I loved King Corn when I saw it. Damn corn is everywhere. HFCS is really taken over eh? Its in teh goddamn protein bars too!

Okay, when you say “No offence (sic)” before offending someone, you are basically acknowledging that you are being offensive. And thanks, I am sure Britain is so much better.
P.S. Chickens are for pussies, ever seen a chicken’s neck? Ever seen a bull’s neck? That’s what I thought, I raise cattle so don’t be worrying about my food.
P.S.S. If people were worried about their food they would get the quotas off the sugar imports.
America’s and Canada’s grossly obese populations MEAN that no one is intelligent enough to care about their food. If you raise cattle then you know what your getting but corn fed beef is some of the nastiest shit there is. Course I FUCKIGN eat it! I’m not cutting down to 1 or 2 steaks a month so I can buy grass fed.
You need some ‘sans sarcasm’ in there Brother Chris, hard to tell if your joking about chicken being for pussies.
Brother Chris,. I no longer live in Britain. And I agree it isn’t much better, as they say ‘‘If America were a dog then Britain is the tail’’. And it’s on it’s it way to being as fat as the U.S
I said no offence because I wasn’t taking a pot shot at the U.S, my comment was based on the documentary and wasn’t meant to be personal.

I’d say check with some of your local growers before you write off costs on grass fed beef - some are very reasonably priced - some will even discount for you too - especially if you are a loyal customer.

Nope, sans sarcasm.
I fucking hate chicken, but I’ll eat it if I have to, but I would rather just eat steaks and potatoes all day long. I will however eat fried chicken, especially with waffles.
Raising grass fed cattle is more expensive over all, only if you do your operations like the corn-stuffed cattle growers. Grazed cattle around here sells for commodity price.
ive seen the Doc, its a great revelation as to how insanely greedy our corporations really are. every single thing they can do to save a dime is done and its so pathetic. everyday we are being poisoned
