Flex Magazine is Ridiculous

I enjoy the Ghostdog column because it makes light of how shitty the other mags are out there. That being said, I think Flex is absolutely out of control.

First, I dont give a shit about what Arnold has to say anymore. I don’t like reading the 70005th reiteration of his worn out training techniques.

Their training advice is horrible. Their gossip column makes me want to hurl and the advertisements from Muscle Wreck and their ilk are the only entertainment I get from the mag. I mean with “sentences” like

‘NITRIC OXIDE ESTER “PUMP EXPLODE” FUSION’

What the fuck does that mean? It’s just a bunch of buzz words slammed together.

I’ve had a subscription since my dumb high school kid days, but I’m letting my multi year subscription run out this year.

Also, am I the only one who thinks a picture of a shirtless, shaved, oiled, bronzed blond pretty boy body builder holding two mastifs is an ambiguously gay cover shot? (Not that I think there’s any thing wrong with that, but with all the fake hetero machismo in the mag…) It makes me feel like Im picking up a gay stroke mag when I go to the front desk to pick up my mail.

Anyway, rant over. Feel free to disagree with me.

Good call!

What I don’t like about Flex, and the multitude of other “bodybuilding” magazines is their inherent dishonesty. They show various programs of the “champions” yet fail to mention all of the drugs that they take in order to get those results.

Granted everyone of them are far more genetically gifted than I am, or most, for that matter. However, come clean! If you take steroids then talk about which ones you take, how much you take, dosage etc. (I know they can’t do this for obvious reasons) Otherwise, take your bloated steriod laden body out of my face!

Other than T-Nation I read MILO. A solidly good magazine with realistic training advice.

yeah…on the one hand I’m a little irritated with T-nation because they and you guys have ruined the enjoyment I used to get from the mags…MMI was the first to go, then M&F, Flex, but I still liked Planet Muscle and Ironman…but the more reading I do here the stupider Ironman gets…on the other hand, you’re saving me some money every month!
I keep meaning to send in for MILO, but keep forgetting.

I’ve been dissapointed lately with Penthouse. They seem to have lost focus.Too many articles on politics and interveiws with people. I think Hustler has the right idea though.

Good call.

The training programs in FLEX are pretty bunk but some of the nutrition articles in there have pretty good info in them. Chris Aceto really knows his shit.

Yeah I’d have to agree with that!
