Good point you silly bastard.
Wow, a simple comment can make a thread go wrong quick.
I am not one of the strongest nor biggest guy here but, why do we debate on one lift ? Does everyone has the same back routine ? I don’t think so, yet, people don’t bash each other because they use different exercises.
Some people (I believe a lot, my 2 partners are long arm monkey and still bench press) can use easily bench press without shoulder discomfort and get a great pec contraction. While having A LOT of room to progress in weight. Compared to DB’s where most gyms won’t have heavy enough DBs to make constant progress.
Hear me, I love DB’s work and even machines work, but why debate on witch exercises is good FOR YOU.

If you actually read and understood this thread you wouldn’t be asking that question.
Bottom line, if you have a HUGE chest, I want to hear how you built it…but most of you speaking up don’t…yet all of you seem to know already what works best…so where is the hugeness?

Do 34C count as huge chest? No?
K then, good point.

They count if you built them that way instead of puberty.
I am just wondering why people who aren’t that big are so fucking resistant to any advice from people who got bigger than they did as if that happened by accident.

I did not ever threw away any advices given at me from stronger bigger guys.
And where did I said I exactly knew how to build a huge chest ? I was only questioning the reason of why trying to bring down one exercises because it’s not good for one.
I have seen huge guys build their chest size with BB press, others claimed it was DB’s and others claimed machine made the difference. And I do not ever questioned that, but I progress every single week in pounds and reps with the bench press, while “feeling” my chest actually work and staying shoulder pain free. Why should I stop ? (For NOW)
You also said “I am not “condemning” the bench press. I just know that if your goal is a HUGE chest, you will likely have to abandon it at some point or at th very least, not rely on it as a core exercise.”
I tend to agree, but would you stop a huge guy from using BB press as their core lift if he’s progressing and has training partners to spot/lift-off that way he wouldn’t have to fear the risk of failure.
I also never claimed that BB press was “the only way to go” either.

You have issues. No one ever wrote to stop using something that is working. The point being made is that most of you haven’t even reached a level yet where you would know if a barbell could take you to that next level…and most of you never will be because of this mindset where you already have it all figured out when you are at an early intermediate level at best.
The point is also being made that MANY larger bodybuilders later find that the barbell may hold them back as far as ULTIMATE DEVELOPMENT and that sticking with a barbell out of tradition or mindset will hold many back.
Unless you are now arguing against one of these points, there was no need for your post at all.

Did I wrote I would stick with BB bench press if the progress aren’t there anymore ?
“I progress every single week in pounds and reps with the bench press, while “feeling” my chest actually work and staying shoulder pain free. Why should I stop ? (For NOW)” That’s what I said : for NOW.
“this mindset where you already have it all figured out when you are at an early intermediate level at best.”
If you believe I showed close-minded toughs, well, that wasn’t my intention. I never ever claimed to know the absolute truth about bodybuilding and I know that I am a early bird in this sport, I have 2 years of training under the coat, that’s not a huge laps of time.
What I was arguing against was the thread statement “Flat Bench Press is a Shitty Exercise” and to the others reply that went in the direction “BB Press is far inferior to others variations”
If we are going to be judge only on the size/strength we currently hold on this forum well there’s another shit ton of members who should also stop writing.
You really believe I think like this “I am just wondering why people who aren’t that big are so fucking resistant to any advice from people who got bigger than they did as if that happened by accident.”
I went from 130lbs to 240 and cut to 220 in a 2 1/2 year time frame. Working my ass out 6 times a week getting stronger every single training, force-feeding and giving all I can to be at my 110%. Yet some of you seems to believe all of us think like the statement above ?

So why is someone who just got started blessing us with so much of their thought process?

Good point.
This is bodybuilding. If you aren’t very big yet, maybe you should post less unless what you have to say is on level with the goals of a bodybuilder and actually falls in line with helping that goal.
No, if you are still small (not saying you are specifically), why would people listen to you as you go on about “what works”? You wouldn’t even know “what works”.

Fair then.
Good discussion in here. It’s really interesting to hear what has worked for people more advanced than me…
Since I learned how to bench with out shoulder pain I’ve started really enjoying it. We’ll see how my chest looks in a few more years!
Are most of the comments against flat bench press specific to barbell bench, or are people not seeing optimal results from flat dumbbell bench as well?
[quote]forlife wrote:

I was talking about the barbell bench and referring to it in terms of an advanced lifter.
I think most if not all people should start out using a barbell and have never written otherwise. I just know if your goal is a huge fucking chest that makes people say, “what the fuck”, you will likely have to toss that barbell at some point because it seems to pan out that way for most larger lifters.
That means most here complaining will never get that big to start with making some of these comments a waste.
Thanks PX, makes sense.

Fuck you, puperty was a nightmare!
Something weird I noticed lately
I gave up flat benching a while ago cause I could never feel it in my chest
I recently started close grip pressing and I get a tremendous pump/feeling in my chest. Anyone else experience this?
Am I just murdering my close grip form or what?
