Yeah man, it’s the same knee that’s been bugging me for 3+ years now. It’s frustrating like no other but you gotta play the hand you’re dealt. Man, I was actually gonna ask you what brand sleeves you got. I’m definitely gonna pick some up if they’ll help. I still need to knock off the weight vest, but I put it on hold 'cause I’ve spent a shit ton of money the past couple weeks moving and getting the place setup. I’ll get everything soon though fa sho.

Do you know what’s specifically wrong with your knee? I know you’ve had surgeries on at least one of your knees but dunno if your current pain is related.

You ain’t lying.
I ruptured the patella in the knee but waited too long to get surgery and the tissue calcified. Since it happened don’t think the knee has ever felt better than 85% of what it was, and that’s on its best days. Other days (like right now) it hurts like hell just sitting on the couch. It’s honestly pretty disheartening, but it is what it is.

Is there any way to get it fixed, another surgery or anything? That sucks man.
^^^ I was told that they could detach the patella, scrape off the tissue, repair it and re-attach it, but it wasn’t a guarantee that I’d ever be able to do anything athletic again. The other option was rehab. So, I didn’t want to go through a major surgery and possibly be worse off than where I started so I chose to rehab it. I’d honestly trade 10 years off my life to have my knees back to 100%, but I don’t know any genies so it looks like I’m stuck playing the hand I was dealt.

My apt’s carport has beams that are basically chinup bars, so when I’m not at work that’s what I’ve been using. My schedule has changed so I’m working mornings to afternoon, so gonna have my first 3 meals prepped the night before so I can take 'em to work, and I’ll do the plp there before breakfast.

Pretty good workout. Been doing 2 board variants for awhile and it honestly felt a little awkward going to a 1 board. I expect at least a decent improvement next week. While playing ball I caught a pretty serious elbow to the eye and now there’s a nice little bubble between my cheek bone and lower eye lid. It’s black and blue like a bruise but there’s some pretty solid red in there too. After playing, went home and took the dog on a long walk and walked by a neighborhood bar and ended up running into a couple of dudes sitting on the patio I hadn’t seen in probably 3 years. Long story short, joined 'em, suckered the bartender into buying my beers (and 2 gnarley shots) and now I’m home. My post workout meal was aforementioned drinks and a basket of chips and salsa. Wanted to eat as normal but one of those shots has my stomache in knots, so it looks like I’m down for the count.
Thinking about dropping ball for a little while, or maybe 1 day a week at most. Don’t think I’ve mentioned it, but for about a month and 1/2 I’ve had a gnarley pain on the outside of my left foot between the ankle and the heel. It’s bad enough that I can’t fully extend my foot (or stand on my toes, jump fully, etc…) So, just gonna lift 4 days a week and focus on getting bigger, stronger and hammering away at mobility. Also looking to an affordable boxing gym 'cause I haven’t done anything like that since 8th grade and I want to be cold with my hands.
i think taking some time off from ball is a good idea. Ice and rest up your foot buddy. Get that thing fixed up.

Wish it was just the foot (or achilles, which I think it is). It’s also my knees, shoulders, right elbow (which I hyperextended several months ago) pinched nerve in my neck which has been lingering for at least 3 months… I could go on for days. All these injuries make progress slow, but I thoroughly enjoy training, so I work around/through 'em.
Hit the heavy bag for 20 minutes then did some deads and abs. Worked up to 335 for 3. Wasn’t hard, just haven’t done a dead in at least 6 months. Have a vid somewhere of me doing at least 425. A new goal is a 5-hundo dead. This week’s a little goofy due to work schedule, but next week will be more structured.
Also, the chick I was seeing in Portland is coming to visit Oct 15-22. Not sure if I’ll get to the gym while she’s here. Obviously I’d like to but we’ll see. Here’s a pic she sent this afternoon.
