All of this sounded like a game plan for the Vegas part of my comment. Right up until the no sex plan.
Youāve got to let the protein and calories go to work. High-duration cardio might not help.
But the next morning . . .
From my own experience, itās definitely still a viable endingā¦primarily because I want to prove to my Mrs that taking me out to Texas De Brazil is a VERY good idea, haha.
My preference anyway.
Just laughed out loud at my office at this one! Nice thing about being married, all I have to do is look at my husband funny and itās on.
Since weāre going down this road already, I think morning or afternoon sex is better than evening sex.
I agree. We are pretty loud, and by the time the boys are in bed Iām pretty damn tired myself. Itās much nicer when they are at school and we can let loose.
Ok i admitā¦im a judgmental ass hat
BUT damn⦠im having a hard time wrapping my mind around the notion of a 225lbs as a major accomplishment on a Bench press.
I get some online are using it as a tool to keep indviduals motivated . While keeping them from dropping out. But stillā¦
It seems like thereās no middle ground , either expectation are presented as over the top or extremely low.
I agree. Itās a low bar for bench press for anyone over 150lbs BW. The focus should not be on a chasing a number but making continuous improvements. Chasing a number like 225 or 315 leads to doing to many sessions where maxing out to āsee progressā is necessary.
I REALLY like the advice of āget strong in a bodybuilding rep rangeā as a means to achieve a decent physique AND strength, for just this reason. How often do we see some young trainee get it in their head that āif I JUST get my bench up to 315lbs, Iāll be JACKEDā, so they watch a bunch of powerlifting videos, learn how to arch their back, tuck their elbows, pull the bar apart, squeeze like hell, drive with their legs, go on a peaking cycle, and get that mighty 315lbsā¦only to look nearly exactly the same, if not simply a little fatter due to some weight gained in pursuit of the goal.
Take that same trainee, tell them to do 3 sets of 8-12, when they can do 3x12, up the weight and repeat, and do that for a yearā¦they see HUGE improvements.
I blame Wendler and 5 3 1.
Ever since he came up with this, people started trying to express things in clever numerical sequences.
Then 2,3,4 was born. Thats how a 2 plate bench press became something that anybody was willing to talk about.
Prior to that, you kinda had to keep thst to yourself.
Well we share the similar view pont.
I think i should have gone more in detail what i ment in that post.
We are simply in violent agreement.
Lol most definitely
Ehhh⦠not sure if Jims to blame on that.
^^ probaly need to still clarify what i was getting at in that original post .But im too lazy at the moment.
Yeah, Iām just goofing off.
He has done as much as anybody can to improve that.
Well i seen a video short stating only 1% of the gym population can press 225lbs for a single.
Which i question the validity of it. But regardless. The way it was presented it seemed to presented it as a massive achievement. In some strange way i view it as a disservice to viewers .
Regard max bench numbers. My view point As pointed out
Its not a true 1 to 1 regarding strength or development. Out side of actual comp or a very occasionally testing. Doing a true 1 rm in training for general strength and hypertrophy isnt optimal. ( ugh i said that word)
My brothers play high school football. Their coach has off-season weight lifting. From what they tell me, itās basically all about your 1RM. Few kids make improvements, and many, when they retest their maxes after a 3-4 week period, end up lifting less than what they originally did. But, heās the coach, soā¦
Heās a great football coach, and a good guy, but not a strength coach. I considered sending him a 5/3/1 book, simply because I think if everyone listened to Jim Wendler more, theyād be stronger, but I canāt think of a way to do so that doesnāt just look rude.
Trojan Horse him: send him the book saying you want HIS opinion on what Jim says, because you value his expertise
Been to that one⦠always super packed but service is still good
