You know, this is a good insight. I think it’s not uncommon for men to assign some part of their identity to “secret knowledge.” It can be a very dark thing, like the rainbow of abuse that occurs from wielding it in an authoritarian position, vs the positive side where its teaching and dissemination.
Either way it’s to grab onto something that makes you feel special. And it will evolve, but having a gatekeeper mentality isn’t good for you.
I’m going to for sure ask him to tell me more this weekend. I think a problem in my family is that this kid - my eldest - is full of obscure knowledge, and we probably are not as sensitive as we should be to his need to share it. I confess I’ve dropped the ball on this mushroom thing. I’m his mom, and I don’t even know if he eats them!
I’ve been watching too much YouTube and I’m sick of both the algorithm and YouTubers. I see someone making a stupid surprised face and pointing to the title in the thumbnail and I want to throw something at the screen…
Partly. But from the way it works, a small part. Put it this way. If a bunch of dipshits who watch a the same video/channel as me also watch conspiracy theory videos about aliens, I get the same recommendations.
Hello there,
I have gone through your post and I’m not surprised by the number $30USD an hour. That’s normal to be honest as an experienced DevOps engineer and worked with various prestigious platforms; Collection: DevOps tools · GitHub I can tell you about the skill set nowadays which is some how I too agree as per the pay they are getting.
Hey! Wow you replied to a really old post lol. Ok, the $30USD per hour part was actually referring to developers living in countries like India and Pakistan where this amount of pay would be several times more than what they would get in their respective countries. And that part was not referring to devops guys, just normal web developers.
