Honestly yes

I would choose Pittsburgh too

That sucks. I was gonna joke a little, but not at your expense.

Anything in particular that you’d like to share?

Yeah. Not as many hot chicks, but its a freakin powerhouse of world changing scientific developments and technologies.

I’ll take Marie Curie over some onlyfans bimbo any time.

Homeless person at pretty much every street corner either asking for money or weed, saw one pissing on a wall this morning.

I don’t like the culture and lifestyle. Pissburgh is more my speed

I was in class yesterday and was discussing a paper written by one of my former profs who was previously at UCLA.

Quote: ā€œyou know he used to be here. He was frustrated at the dating prospects in Princeton. Came here, found a wife and bounced overā€

I painted all of the doorjambs in the one dorm building.

I hate painting.

And my brother is a plumber on the maintenance staff there.

So, if you ever saw somebody walking by with a tool bag that looks very similar to me, thats why.

My son is living in Pittsburgh and loves it. Lots of stuff to do, nice seasonal weather, and just cozy and good, according to him. They moved there for grad school (girlfriend) and are planning to stay.

He’s previously lived in Texas, Northern New England, NYC (college), LA (grad school) Tanzania (peace corps briefly) and Salt Lake City. He liked SLC and, for a while, NYC. He would be happy to live in Boston, he says.

But again, for now it’s going to be Pittsburgh.

They’re this ^ sort of couple.

I’d love to live in Boston someday

Today was a particularly fine day too! Sunny, mid 60’s and the trees are just starting to turn for fall.

A friend of mine came for grad school, but couldn’t find his way back out. Something about the road being closed and it was just easier to stay.

I hope he likes it here!

So far, loves it!

I look forward to visiting at some point.

You’ll probably have a very good time! There’s a fair bit of indoor stuff, outdoor stuff, and all around stuff that probably matches up well with your interests.

And… Happy mental health awareness day!
I didn’t know that today was a thing until after my session this afternoon.

Thank you! I actually didn’t know anything about it until I saw something about it on Facebook. My morning ā€œdaily briefingā€ email at work didn’t mention it, so I don’t know how legit it is. We have a whole month, I think. Or maybe that’s just social workers? I know yesterday was Physicians Assistants day, because when I read the email I called ā€œhappy Physicians Assistants dayā€ through the wall to the guy in the office next to mine, what with him being a PA. Also noted in the email was ā€œsterile instruments day,ā€ which of course I celebrate, being someone who appreciates that sort of thing. No party for the PA, and I didn’t notice any special snacks anywhere, so was it really much of a day?

It occurred to me when seeing that ā€œmatches up with your interestsā€ that my son has mentioned mushrooms a couple of times. He photographs them? I don’t know why. I just know that between him looking at 'shrooms and the dog sniffing various, the girlfriend gets irritated at their pace. We’re both (he and I and probably all of my kids) medium city people. NY, Chicago, LA, DFW are too big. Boston is good, Austin was nice. So I can see why he likes it. He’s outside a lot - as I am - so he must be able to get to the woods from where he is. I wish they’d move it a little closer to me so we could visit more easily.

Thats kida wierd.

 I’m kinda wierd too though.

He’s in the right place if he likes to photograph shrooms. :+1:

After yesterday, I’ll have something good for the food porn thread later too.

I could probably share some local knowledge if he’d like. Not on photography (not my forte) but I can find them pretty good and know a few areas where they’re abundant.

Haha, maybe I should express some interest and ask if he picks and cooks them. I actually have no idea. I’m not a big mushroom person. I’ll eat the basics, but I don’t go out of my way for them, so I guess I’ve never thought to ask.

Thanks for the offer to show him around, but I want to keep my kids well away from my participation here. I’ve never mentioned it and would be horrified to run into any of my sons in this context. (ā€œHey, that looks like my mom’s dog!ā€) (ā€œOh god, there she is talking about my stepfather! Agh, gross!ā€) (ā€œWhat’s that she’s admitting to eating? She never let US have that when we were kids!ā€)

It did occur that it would create an awkwardness having ANY conversations involving ā€œSo, how do you know my mom?ā€, innocent as it is.

Tongue in cheek humor aside, Its not actually wierd. A lot of people like to photograph/document and research the various types of shrooms. Given the warnings and consequences of a bad ID, its a good way to get a fix for an interesting but obscure intellectual pursuit.

Under the heading of Stuff Men Love: obscure or secret knowledge. :+1: Easily in the top 10. Probably top 5.
