Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 2)

Except not going large?!

I once worked with an ostrich farmer. He stated that the ostrich must be the dumbest of all animals. Appearantly they showed reactive behaviour and a violent temper.

If you are what you eat - you will become reactive and violent by eating ostrich. Better than Deca?

So, essentially, ostrich is the fountain of youth?

Yes, but a double edged sword - either fountain of youth or an uphill climb on the mountain to jail. Maybe a matter of dosage?

Ostrich replacement therapy, just don’t forget to take your FI (feather inhibitor), otherwise you’ll end up getting fowl side effects.

I am sick, but not that sick. Nonetheless I am in bed watching an Ashton Kutcher/Reese Witherspoon romantic comedy. I’m going to eat ice cream soon, because it feels good on my throat and makes me happy. Here is my companion, amid the messes each of us has made. Some of the mess are my workout and hiking clothes, which I haven’t worn at all this week, but neither have I put away.

Confession: I am a complete disappointment to The Community For Advanced Fitness.

Confession:

I’m thinking about buying new lifting gear even though I already have one. Looking into a 13mm belt from pioneer fit but not really sure if it’ll provide any benefit compared to my current 10mm pioneer fit belt considering how lanky I am…

Please convince me not to before this thought becomes an itch

I was informed that some digital scales ā€œpull from memoryā€
This would explain the ā€œstair stepā€ pattern of my weight.

How can I tell if my scale does this?

I love my 13mm pioneer belt. The customizing option is also really nice. I made a few touches, pretty subtle but it makes the belt ā€œmineā€, and also helps me distinguish it in a powerlifter heavy gym where there are a lot of similar looking belts.

I am not here to be a good influence

I confess that I wish you’d just throw the damn scale away. It is not doing you any favors in terms of mental health. Life is about so much more than a number on the scale. If your clothes fit and you’re performing well and you feel good - just roll with it. At maximum, weigh yourself once per week, if you must.

I think you owe it to yourself to get that belt.

And For the children. It will inspire them.

I came to the wrong place :joy:

Joking aside though, will the benefit really be tangible since I’m skinny?

I was obsessing over my weight earlier this year as I thought it would help if i dropped down a bit more. Weighed myself this morning for the first time in about 2 months. Still at 285lbs but I am honestly the strongest & leanest i have been in a long time (maybe ever). I could see some ab definition this morning before breakfast.

My blood sugar is under control and I feel great - the two most important things for me. The scale is now only a reference point for curiosity.

I had a 10mm belt. Could deadlift around 245. Bought a 13mm, and the next session hit 585 for a triple. Your mileage may vary.

Lol, to be honest though, I prefer the 13mm. I notice some benefit, but not a crazy amount. Some people actually prefer the thinner belt of deadlifts, but I do think the thicker belt is a benefit when squatting

Got it, got it…hmm… I’ll consider it when I reach the point that I struggle to progress with squats. (although we all know the belt shouldn’t be the consideration when a lift struggles)

Worse than Pissburgh?

More of a benefit because you are skinny I’d say. A belt basically simulates being fatter: it gives you a larger waist circumference. In the squat in particular this is a boon: the wider the base, the stronger. A narrower base is weaker. So a thicker belt will benefit you.

After going 13mm, I can’t go back to 10. 10 doesn’t even feel like a belt to me.
