GASP! You shortened T-Nation! That’s blasphemy.
No idea why but after this sequence, all I see is Tits-Nation
Is this the first time he’s posted? I knew he was gone for a while there but I thought I’d been seeing his name lately.
For whatever reason our paths did not cross.
My lil man (2 years old) loves baby powder. He asks for ‘pow pow’. Every time I give him some pow pow, he uses his index finger to grab some. He then sticks it in his mouth like he’s trying coke. He then coughs and laughs.
Like he’s trying herb
I seriously gave building a home gym some thought. I went off to amazon to see the price ranges. It sounded so much like a good idea. Screw pandemics, having to wait for the equipment, and having to drive to the gym at all.
Then I realized that a good rack, an olympic bar, and an adjustable bench were already more than € 1000. And that’s without plates…
I got lucky and picked up a rack with plate loaded pulley and dip attachments, bar and ez bar, and 400lbs in plates for $400 from a family that was moving. Rack isn’t set up but can get by with the rest for a few weeks.
Used is the way to go
Incredibly lucky!
The chance of finding good used pieces of equipment where I live is next to zero though.
That’s a solid deal man!
@samul I can see @flappinit typing a response but check his log. You could make do without a rack if you’re handy.
Just sayin - $15 bench on the marketplace, $50 homemade squat/bench racks, $240 weight set - $305. Even with the kettlebell, light dumbbells, and band, it doesn’t breach $400.
Best part is, this was like, all from help I got in my log.
@trainforpain suggested the weight set, @Frank_C and @oldbeancam confirmed that it could do the job
@jshaving suggested the squat stands and @triedntrue gave suggestions for further stability
@T3hPwnisher pointed me in the direction of a cheap axle that I’m still itching to get
Point is, if you REALLY want to throw some shit together and get the job done, we can probably help you get it there for half of what you thought.
That’s a sweet setup you’ve got, flap! I can’t take any credit for helping, but I appreciate the tag.
Your $15 bench is a phenomenal deal. I found a bench here for $40, but it didn’t have the posts to rack a bar. What I should do is fix my own.
Not sure if you’ve ever lifted like this before, but be warned you’re about to fall in love if you haven’t. Training like this is HIGHLY addictive.
BRB secretly waiting for all these people who paid full price for new shit to sell all of it on FB marketplace and Craigslist after this pandemic is over for half price.
How much for the little shoe? Lol
I’ll say…already done two workouts today, and the second one involved an intra-workout Dos Equis.
The bench was a great deal. I see y ou haven’t mentioned the barbell though. Did you already have it? That’s at least € 150 to add to the expense.
How much weight have you tried that rack with? It looks clever but I can’t help but feel it might not be the safest or most stable set up I’ve seen.
LOL, keeping the 3 and 4 year old away from me mid-lift is a workout of it’s own. I’ll give it to you for ~$400.
300 pounds. Didn’t move around. I’m eventually going to add rear supports, but that’s honestly all it would need. The weight set included the barbell. It’s not a great barbell. I found another for $150, but that’s not a necessity. I could get the job done with this. I just had ordered it before I found this weight set.
Those buckets are filled with concrete, by the way.
I should have thought of that. Now it’s easier to see why it’s stable.
Jeez, I’m really tempted to see what I can find. I never thought I would have ever said this, but I miss benching like crazy!
