Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 1)

I’m quite open to those, specially if they happen to post on a certain fitness forum :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Can someone teach me how to function on less sleep?

Neck was pissed off yesterday and barely slept- could barely function today.

It’s a skill that takes years to master. Then one day it becomes normal

Confession - I’m always attracted to and really want to do the routines that focus on a few lifts and perform them several times each week, like @ChongLordUno’s current program. However, I’ve learned several times that repeating any barbell or bilateral movement more than once a week fast-tracks joint pain and injury. Bench pressing and doing pullups once each week? All aboard the Gains Train. Benching and pullups twice in a week, even with different volumes and intensities? Snap City, here we come.

Compensate with greater intake of food. It’s what I do.

Perhaps conjugate is the solution? Instead of “bench press and pull ups” it’s “horizontal press and vertical pull”

It’s like skydiving without a parachute.

You don’t really get any better at falling, just more used to hitting the ground.

If you have the choice at all do not get used to it. Other than that it sucks and you have to accept it. As with anything else, you get used to it. Caffeine can help but you develop a tolerance.

What works well for me is, each week, doing a unilateral and bilateral movement for horizontal and unilateral pushing and the squat pattern and doing a horizontal pull one day and vertical the other (upper body) day each week. Bench press + pullups or rows is fine as long as the next upper body day consists of some form of dumbbell presses + whichever pulling motion I didn’t previously do. Similarly, squats and deadlifts are ok, as long as I do lunges, step-ups, or RFESS.

I haven’t specifically tried a conjugate system, but I’ve found the Washed-Up Meathead template very suitable. That ks for the recommendation; I’ll read more about conjugate training.

Be careful what you wish for.

Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny

Sincerely,

someone with really messed up sleeping habits

You can’t. Those who can function off less sleep appear to be literally born with that ability.

I confess that after months of members jumping on the running bandwagon and a very disappointing run this morning, I’m tempted to start a half marathon training plan :joy::joy:

There’s a running bandwagon on t nation??

Time to find another site I guess :man_shrugging:
