Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 1)

We have waffle hoise and I have seen a couple of those hybrid chains, I always laugh at those

Popeyes is legit. Their spicy chicken is probably the best fried chicken I have had.

I gotta imagine this is like being in the south and saying you want UNsweetened tea.

EDIT: While confessing and talking fast food, I just saw a commercial for this and about had a meltdown

Just found those, half the weight of the others but same price. I will stick with the 99%.

And cheese. The shreddy pizza cheese.

Yes! Good analogy.

I predicted that, so asked for no cheese

I confess that no amount of muscle, leanness or lifting would out do this

Kinda late @flappinit , but question…

Who would be the other 5 guitarists in that list?

Freezing is how sushi restaurants are supposed to address the parasite problem

From webmd:
Freezing fish:

  • At -4 F or below for 7 days (total time), or
  • At -31 F or below until solid, and storing at -31 F (-35 C) or below for 15 hours, or
  • At -31 F (-35 C) or below until solid and storing at -4 F (-20 C) or below for 24 hours.

Stick with the higher end restaurants imo, because I saw a show where Morimoto (famous dude) was opening a Japanese restaurant, and he mentioned some ridiculous cost for the freezer unit in his restaurant.

I’m the same. Foods with sauces or soup usually taste better the day after since they’ve sat in the sauce longer.

Since he’s the 5th, my other 4 would probably be Hendrix, Clapton, SRV, and Tommy Emmanuel.

It’s all subjective, of course - but Santana should always at least be in the discussion for ā€œone of the greatestā€, whether it’s your top 5, 10, 20, or what have you. His guitar just sings like nobody else’s.

As an aside, a lot of people don’t know how fucking brilliant of a guitarist Prince was. Shame.

It really depends on where you get your Thai food. I can’t tolerate the authentic food in Thailand. It’s either too sour, spicy or both lol. My local Thai restaurants modify the dishes to suit our tastes and it’s pretty good.

However, the worst meal I’ve ever had was in Sichuan, China. Fucking puked my guts out in the toilet after trying not to gag while trying a couple of dishes, mostly vegetarian stuff. Can’t remember what they were called. I couldn’t believe anyone could make vegetables taste so potent and yet so horrific at the same time. It’s was like eating sour Thai food that was already rotten.

Prince ≠ Purple Rain

Agreed, was only talking in terms of guitarist. You rarely hear Prince when people talk about best musicians, but you pretty much never hear about his guitar skills. Overall, it’s really sad because people have a view of Prince as overrated because of how full of himself he was, but really he just had a champion’s mindset. There may have been better musicians out there, but when you were in the room with Prince, no matter who you were, he was the best.

Prince was great at every instrument he touched and also a great song writer.

On a similar note, I went to a Harry Connick Jr show once - probably 20 years ago. I had free tickets, I didn’t really want to go, I went and it was full of senior citizens, I reckon I had 20 years on the next youngest person there.

At about the half way point, he decides to go through the entire million piece band and play a little bit on each instrument. He gets to the guitar and plays some hard heavy thrash then shreds a mofo of a solo.

I stand up and yell out something like ā€œYes Harryā€ look around to see all these old people in shock haha

Gotta love Dave Tate :joy:

I hope they keep the podcasts going!

I agree with everything thing you said. Especially about Prince.
But I have an issue with Clapton. My totally unartistic mind thinks he’s over rated.
Can you expand on the elements of his talent that is escaping me?

Don’t worry bro, you’re not alone - LOTS of people think that. For one, he’s not one of the greats because of his technical guitar playing skill - there are a ton of people more technically skilled.

The big problem though, is that when you hear his riffs, they can sound…generic sometimes. But there’s a reason for that: he literally paved the way for a lot of modern blues and rock, and so when you hear his lick and think ā€œI’ve heard that beforeā€, it’s because Clapton was the first to do it.

I mean, Sunshine of Your Love was 1967. Layla was 1971. White Room was ā€˜68. Lay Down Sally and Cocaine, 1977. Those sounds just weren’t there before him. It’s the way he borrowed from other greats and pushed things forward, and he breached so many different genre’s.

But yeah - Clapton’s a tricky one to explain to people. People took so much of his stuff that it can make him sound played out, but he was a true innovator. Might not change your mind and that’s fine, but it’s why I love him.
