Thanks @magick, @strongmangoals, @boilerman, @thefourthruffian, @mr.v3lv3t
Ended up going with War Dogs for some reason (not a scary movie, but would recommend!). Definitely gonna check out one of the recommendations this weekend though.
I confess I’ve spent WAY too much time watching House
Yeah, I watched that some time back. Ding Hao really doesn’t have bad fighting instincts. It’s just that he doesn’t know how to fight because Wing Chun is rubbish. The dude does spar with people from other martial art clubs so he has some fight experience.
I don’t know if all these antics are staged or not. What I’m guessing is that it was all pre-planned for him to last the 2 rounds without getting knocked out and then be declared the winner.
Which was exactly what happened.
The dumbass then went and challenged a real fighter in the ring who was like 20+ lbs below his weight class and got knocked out with a kick to the head. I think it was the same plan but he didn’t anticipate getting knocked out lol. The sponsors make lots of money from this shit, though.
Wing Chun is complete rubbish. You can use the excuse that the efficacy of most Chinese martial arts were lost when the Qing government banned all this shit including sparring but real Wing Chun practitioners had their chance to adapt it for combat in Hong Kong for 150 years when the country was handed over to the British and it still doesn’t work.
Yu Changhua is some celebrity wannabe who shows up on China TV from time to time displaying his Wing Chun. He’s full of shit. He doesn’t have Ding Hao’s natural instincts for fighting. I’m pretty sure Ding Hao would have beat the one armed by engaging in an all out brawl instead of using Wing Chun moves.
There’re lots of charlatans nowadays promoting traditional Chinese martial arts since there’s been an ongoing movement by the CCP encouraging people to embrace selected traditional shit like Traditional Chinese Medicine to promote Nationalism. Ip Man 4 wasn’t a movie. It was a 90min propaganda piece.
There are even idiots who practice some kind of “acupoint kungfu” staging fake matches with fake opponents. You basically render your opponent completely disabled by hitting one of his acupoints. This is shit from wuxia novels by a HONG KONG author - Jin Yong - where characters have powers like Marvel superheros but they do it anyway lol.
Even Jack Ma is into tai chi along with the woo woo shit like the qi part and all, which is, again, mostly from wuxia novels and charlatans. I don’t know if the CCP put him up to it or he really believes in the nonsense.
The fucker has so much money anyway so he funded his own short film probably for shits and giggles:
We’re not supposed to flame people for confessions, but I feel the urge to flame you for posting a confession that shouldn’t be a confession. Don’t ever apologize for listening to one of the top 5 guitarists of all time and particularly the one with a tone so fucking clean it gives me goosebumps. I saw Santana in 2004 at Madison Square Garden. Los Lonely Boys opened up for him (the “How Far is Heaven” band, they were awesome). Great concert.
Perhaps it depends on if one is well endowed and up for it.
NONO it’s THIS ONE!
The fucking 3 rising notes followed by a lower one. I can’t get it out of my head.
Point well taken.
I’ve always been a fan of the popular stuff that he put out, but listening to the entire album (s) is an experience.
I confess that 92% dark chocolate is delicious and I am most likely broken on the inside.
I prefer 100%
sweeter chocolate => less cocoa fragrance/richness
Then again, I like bitter foods in general
False. Chocolate is like a soul. The darker, the better.
But you recommended one with an artificial sweetener to me.
I did. It’s like the difference between fast food and a dinner at a fancy restaurant.
Fast food is good (theoretically), but I prefer dinner at a fancy restaurant if I really want to enjoy a meal
Also, based on your liking of “diet hack” foods, I thought you might like to try another one
This is where we disagree strongly. Give me a good old Diners Drive ins and Dives pig out over Michelin started swanky any day.
I am eating this for health. My goal is gaining.
It depends.
For me, nothing beats good japanese food. French cuisine on the other hand, is very passable.
Regardless, I appreciate high skill cooking, even if I don’t like the food itself
The type of chocolate people eat says a lot about their personality- I don’t trust people who eat white chocolate and I only like people who prefer reeses
white “chocolate” is not chocolate
