Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 1)

Think I will steal that recipe, thanks

So a couple months ago, there was an ant infestation in our house. Thanks to @cyclonengineer and @ChickenLittle , we managed to get the indoor infestation under control, but ants would still trickle in

Last night, Some anteaters came in and annihilated the two outside nests. Now I’m thinking, why don’t pest control raise some killer armadillos

Husband has covid and (confession) I was due for my second vaccine on Wednesday. We both tested on Monday, and he got the call that he was positive on Wednesday just as I was leaving to break quarantine and get the vaccine (with my doctor’s awareness and implied approvalā€¦ā€œif you DO decide to go, double maskā€). I was negative, as it turned out, but OMG am I sick of every single bit of this.

Sick of worrying about being a criminal; sick of canceling my very needy in-person clients because I am once again quarantining; sick of tracking our risks and those of our kids; and now, sick of waking in the night to feel for too high a fever or being paralyzed by my pulse oximeter beeping out a warning when his O2 levels are 92, but we’ve been told to ā€œcome in if it gets below that, or if his lips turn blue.ā€ Great. I’ll watch for signs of DEATH, thanks.

Also, and please don’t judge me as uncaring, he seems pretty good right now, though when the tylenol wears off and he gets tired he’ll seem corpse-y again I’m sure, but this is all not good for either my diet or my workouts.

I confess that if my husband didn’t have a deadly disease, I’d pick a fight with him just to blow off some steam. Angry workouts are much more satisfying than working out worried and tired.

This is not true at all for me. Being angry at my wife or work or something just drains me, and the workout suffers. To each their own though.

Same here. My best workouts are when I’m happy and in a great mood. The farther away from
That mood I get the shittier the workout is.
I’ve also never been in a good mood and had a bad workout, occasionally I’ll be in a bad mood and have a good workout.

Confession:
I ate 6 meals plus snacks yesterday. Not no body building 6 meals of 6oz chicken and some rice, these were sho nuff meals! Idk why. I was so hungry yesterday. 2 breakfast, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, then a late night snack at Waffle House :joy:

I don’t understand this. I thought the thing with these are that they were really cheap. I went, and didn’t find that to be true (just mediocre food). What is the appeal? It isn’t bad or anything.

Usually the appeal is found when you’re drunk, but when I’m working it’s the only place open 24/7 around.

I ate there last night around 1 or 2am, got eggs and a blueberry waffle and aloooot of choccy milk :joy:

Edit: I personally don’t care for them.

Access at off times makes sense. Where I am they have a lot of Perkins, which are 24/7, and IMO far superior. The breakfast food there is about as good as I have had. I don’t think they have a country fried steak though which is one of my favorite foods that I will feel guilty about for the rest of the day after eating (they are horrendous for you).

This is the recipe. Only change I make is that she has you put all the veggies directly in the crock pot, and I give the potatoes a good sautee just until they soften, no browning, and add the onions and garlic for one extra minute before dumping it all in the crock pot. It’s dangerous, haha. Start in the morning and do the 6 hours on low instead of 3.5 on high. And do not get some wack ass so-thin-you-can-see-through bacon, spend the 9 or 10 bucks and get you super thick cut bacon, like Wright or something. Lemme know if you try it!

This sounds really challenging. Glad you’ve been vaccinated - and good luck to your husband.

Thanks, appreciate it! Sounds really delicious.

Oh no. So sorry to hear this. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your husband.

My best to the both of you. Keep us posted.

Very frustrating, I understand.

Thanks for the good wishes! I did have a good workout, then took the dog for two walks because it’s a perfect snowy day here, and I’m feeling much less irritable now. Still worried about my husband’s shortness of breath, but he’s refusing Tylenol, which is a good sign, I guess. I worry when he’s cooperative.

We’ve never heard back from @Jewbacca, which also bothers me. I’m hoping he just got busy and has fully recovered from Covid.

As for working out happy, I agree that’s the best, but of the low moods for me, anger is the one that comes with energy.

I don’t mean to cause any unneeded concern…
I started running fever on 1/14. I woke up on 1/16 and it was 102.6. Called and got a video visit to schedule the test that confirmed the COVID. On 1/18 I went to the hospital for an antibody infusion and returned home. My fever never fell below 102.4, in fact I had three days above 103.5. Terrible night sweats and chills. One night I woke up and the sweat was so bad my hands were pruned like I’d spent two hours in the bath tub. Fever broke on the 25th. Never lost taste or smell, never had respiration issues or nausea. Worst eleven days of my adult life. I never went in public without a N95 mask, and limited all outside contact to grocery, pharmacy, and caring for my Father since last spring. My SO was tested twice during my illness, tested negative both times. My best wishes toward your husbands recovery.

I confess that I just cut a 3lb pot roast in half and put half in the freezer because 3lbs was ā€œtoo much pot roastā€

What have I become?

My sweetest friend…

I confess when I make pot roast, I put the entire crock pot liner with lid in the fridge. Next day, just pop that liner in the crock pot, set to high and wait. Some people seem to just make it more complicated than it needs to be with their Tupperware and what not.

We’ve gone the pressure cooker route these days, but I can definitely get down with an old fashioned slow cooker pot roast.

IDK about pot roast, but there’s definitely a HUGE difference when it comes to red braised pork.

Pressure cooker braising is so far inferior, we don’t even bother
