Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 1)

Does the world REALLY need another excuse not to workout :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Ouch! How did you manage that?

So your electrolytes levels are good! :+1:

I confess that whilst I am very consistent, some would even say boring. After nearly 2 years of the same programming I am starting to think about changing. Not going to change coach but maybe look to run a different style of training or a bit. I feels bit guilty saying that like I am going to program hop.

I have just started a 5 week strength block and will follow that with another peak if the powerlifting comp I have planned in September still goes ahead.
It is looking very unlikely that it will go ahead as there is growing restrictions due to second wave of COVID in Melbourne.

I am going to switch to hypertrophy for the end of the year. Still needs to be three days a week to deep water is out. Need to find something else equally challenging.

Drill 4 holes and cut/drill out a rectangular sectionā€¦ Much more effective drainage, doesnā€™t really impact the tire.

Last night, I wasnā€™t hungry, but ended up eating yogurt and honey just because ā€œI could ā€œ
This is after a dinner of smoked salmon and honeycomb followed by 2 quest bars
My digestion seriously paid for it and everything is swollen

This morning I did John Meadowsā€™ Hang and swing destroyer set for delts for the first time.

I nearly had an out of body experience.

Building the Monolith (3 days of lifting, 3 days of conditioning)

Or, since itā€™s hypertrophy, DoggCrapp

Could always do some good old fashioned Super Squats as well.

My confession is that Iā€™m getting pretty sick of a bunch of dudes that still look like ā€œbeforeā€ photos starting up their own lines of fitness themed clothing. Itā€™s like back in my MMA days when dudes would take half a grappling class and replace their entire wardrobe with TapouT shirts.

Four day per week programs can be done 3x per week, just move the days out as required.

I think deep water is meant to be 5 days a week without any days off !!

Itā€™s 4 days in a row with the 5th day being active recovery. If youā€™re looking for 3x/week with broken days, Iā€™d find something else - the accumulated fatigue throughout the week is kind of key, IMO.

For you, Iā€™d second BTM. Tough, simple, effective, with a good amount of squatting.

My friends and I would joke that these people built their skills by watching too much of The Ultimate Fighter.

Found one!

I didnā€™t get one of those but I picked up a good one. It was free, too. Now I just need to use it.

Good find!

When I was thinking yesterday about using a sledgehammer and tire as a conditioning tool, I realized another confession: I confess I have a slightly irrational fear of the hammer bouncing up and smashing my face.

Thatā€™s part of the shopping strategy. You have to check for bounciness.

Not irrational at all.

 Donā€™t ask.

If I was going to make something to beat with a hammer, Iā€™d strap the tread section of a tire across the flat top of a nice oak log and bolt it to the sides using coarse threaded lag bolts.

That would be a pretty dead blow without being a pain in the joints.

I confess that all this talk about conditioning has reminded me that condioning, in reality, does exist and I should probably do it. I always chalk work up as my conditioning but Iā€™m not certain that it should ā€œcountā€.

All these big tires and sledgehammers make me want one. That or a big ass sandbag to carry around the backyard. Iā€™ve been watching a lot of strongman on YouTube and part of me wishes I could get massive like those dudes.

Another confession- I would have to eat a LOT more to get big like those dudes.

It turns out that my tire has a bit of bounce and it helps me reload for another swing. I like it.

Edit: that is one hell of a thumbnail for my videoā€¦
