do you notice any difference between them and the metal handles? the only difference I can see is the weight is distributed at the front and back of the metal bars while the spuds the weight is central … more like a suitcase
How’s the wear and tear on them? How often do you use them? with how much weight…asking for perspective - I plan on using them probably 3 or more time/week with increasing weight loads. Again, I love me some farmers walks
yea I ran across those as well when using my google-fu … I liked those, but I really like the titan ones.
It’s really a toss up between the Spuds ones and Titan ones - the titan one’s, i think, are priced well for what you’re getting and I like the distributed weight … but I’ve never had the weight centralized like the Spud’s picture…
No, but I’ve been thinking of tracking down a big tire for the back yard. I have a pretty long stretch of driveway that I could use for carries or sleds, too.
I’ve only tried the metal ones once, but I actually like the added instability of the Spuds. It’s super hard on the grip - the handles rotate like that spinning chin up bar they have for contests at fitness expos and the weights move around a lot more. Wear-and-tear wise they do really well, I used them twice a week for a year, took a break, and then used them 4 times a week while doing a few cycles of Pervertor. When I used them to pretend I was a strongman I routinely had 180 pounds per side on them and they look new outside of some black scuffing. No pilling or thread tearing at all.
Could also make a sled out of a regular sized tire too. Throw an eye bolt in the tread and use some scrap wood to build a platform inside to hold the weight. Just make sure you put in some effective drain holes if it’s being stored outside - the ones I drilled are useless.
I did this one too and it’s great. I’ve been using it twice a week with good results. Only issue is if you get a tire with white sidewall, the white sidewall side will have a shit ton more friction than the black sidewall. And the difference will get worse as you wear each side down.
It just occurred to me that expanding foam could help keep water from accumulating in that space by filling it. No void, no water. They do that with a lot of boats & stuff now.
Subject has come up a couple of times so I figured I’d just throw that out there.
Some douche dumped like 15 semi tires in my HOA’s wooded common area before we took over. If you’re close enough to Ohio you can probably come get one for free. Offer goes to anyone really. They’re buried in brush so it’s probably gonna suck to get it outta the woods, but they’re there.
So far I’ve tallied up several of such said promises from Mrs. GarageRocker. haha Dedicated, potentially public training area, music practice/recording space, garage for a project truck, and a few more. I’d imagine y’all are probably closer to a forever home than we are though, we built our starter home 3 years ago so I have to wait.
Confession time: I’m sitting at my counter drinking an energy drink trying to work up the courage to start my workout. I’ve already delayed it by taking a nap and eating a little food that I want to settle.
I just really don’t want to try and breathe with a weight vest for an extended period of time.
Confession: Trained yesterday in the garage. 85+ degree heat, 15-minute squat EMOM, mowed the lawn after. Came inside drenched in sweat, but decided to charge my phone before I hit the shower. Plugged the charger into the wall outlet and got a shock so bad I felt it in my teeth.
