Fish Oil

I’m a fan of Poliquin’s work, and a common factor in almost all of his articles seems to be the necessity of fish oil in one’s diet. I’m finally convinced that I need to invest in some, but have been having a hard time finding out what type and what quantity to take. On this site alone, I’ve seen 1 gram a day, 3 grams a day, 6 grams a day, 10 grams a day, and more. I’ve also seen recommendations for different brands of fish oil- coromega, carlson, barry sears’ fish oil, etc…

What is the final verdict?

-I’m 6’4 and about 230 lbs, assuming that matters for dosage…

I have both Flameout and Carlsson’s. Everyday I get in one serving of Flameout (~3grams EPA/DHA), and 1 tbsp Carlsson’s (~4grams EPA/DHA). I think if anything, it’s really helped my mood. I don’t get stressed out nearly as much as I used to before taking it.

Doug,

Where do you purchase your Carlsson’s?

Thanks

Amazon. It was a little bit cheaper than going directly to the vitamin shoppe website.

I originally thought that Flameout was too expensive compared to the competing products. It turns out that the price is nearly equivalent when you take the amount and DHA/EPA ratio per serving into consideration. Add my trust in Biotest products into the equation and it’s an easy choice.

And no, I don’t work for them. (A free T-shirt would be nice though - X-Large please)

As far as dosage goes, take as much or little as you like depending on your needs and budget. I’d recommend you just follow the label.

Berardi and Lowery recommend 6 to 10 g /day

I take liquide omega 3 high concentration in DHA EPA so 1 tbsp gives me almost 4 g of one and 2g of the other (just can’t remember which one) Apparently the liquid is more concentrated then the gel pills. I normally take 2 tbsp a day.

Thanks Doug.

I looked at several stores and could not find it anywhere.
