I saw one the other day. It did look small and it was ugly. It looked like a prototype for a Delorean truck.
Theyāre everywhere in north Texas. The proportions and lines just arenāt great. We all knew it was ugly, but I think itās worse in person. I did see one that had a matte black wrap I kinda liked.
I donāt get the point of it. Itās expensive, but looks cheap, and one model has ridiculous, exotic sports car horsepower. Is anyone going to use it as a truck? Just buy a Corvette.
Itās a sad commentary on American manhood when one will choose some battery powered nerd mobile over a car like that.
As a car enthusiast, I love pushing technology to see what is possible, but the thought of putting around town, silently, in my basic model 3 is emasculating. Give me my 6.2lt supercharged V8 any day. Even if itās 8mpg.
I, too, find satisfaction in driving my V-8 pickup in a way that minimizes fuel economy. Especially for mundane errands transporting small items.
Unfortunately this joy has been robbed from me by our increasingly decrepit and pock-marked road system I need to traverse. The Tundra is at less risk of bottoming out in a new and unexpected pothole, but the Avalon glides over the typical state of disrepair much more comfortably.
My brother has a 2024 Silverado with the biggest diesel available.
He also has long gray hair, owns a few businesses that are vanity projects, talks loud, curses excessively, has a red Ferrari, and generally begs people to pay attention to him.
No comment on the posters here, but if you see something that resonates, you might want to reevaluate your prioriities.
Meh, I sold both in last 8 months. I bought the (new version) of the cars I dreamt of as a kid, drove for 2 years and sold. Not about showing off, just love of cars.
When my daughter gets older, Iāll pick up a viper and a cobra. Always wanted to have the snakes.
Now I drive a plain, front bench seat GMC truck with cloth seats. Itās new and paid off.
IMO, German and Italian are nearly auto deuchy, along with British. Yellow, red and blue qualify as well, especially Mustang/Vette. Then anything with a squat or huge rims.
My cars in order:
1980 Honda Prelude - bought it for $1999 and drove the shit out of it for two years. I loved this car.
A series of company cars - Ford Taurus, Dodge Dynasty, Ford Taurus Wagon - had never driven an automatic before, loved having a company car with company gas.
1994 Ford Bronco XLT - 5.8 - loved this truck. My Father in Law bullied me into selling it because I also had a
1994 Acura Legend - this was my brotherās car and I got it when he passed away in 2001. Great car. Drove it to death. Eventually the wiper motor went out and it was a dealer only part at $1200 when the car was worth $2000. I gave it to Kars for Kids because I also got
1999 Mazda B2500 PU truck that was also my brotherās. My dad drove it for a few years and I grabbed it from him in 2014 when he stopped driving. It had manual windows and 25,000 miles. I drove it for a few years and sold it when I got
2012 Ford Fusion from my oldest brother for free. It was his Sales Managerās car, a four door with back seats and more suited for my family. I gave it to my daughter when I move to the west coast and bought a
2022 Honda Accord Hybrid that I drove for about a year and totaled drunk, driving two miles home from work. Regret buying this car, regret wrecking it. Then, my mom gave me a
2005 Honda Odyssey that I also wrecked driving drunk. Then, I bought a
2005 Yukon 5.3 from my oldest brother. He never cashed the check, never delivered the title, so it sits in front of my parentās house unused ninety percent of the time.
My main vehicle is a 2014 Mongoose Kaldi Hybrid with a coffee cup holder, a tandem, and panniers, and I ride that every day!
'94 Ford ranger I bought off my parents. Manual, no power anything. Taught me many skills that most drivers do not have.
04ā 4runner. 250k on it now and still going nicely, though I do drive a little slower and more carefully when off road. Itās comfortable, reliable, gets me anywhere I want to go with good tires, is not a target when parking in big cities, and I donāt care about beating it up aesthetically. Itās also funny that I am a fairly advanced professional (all my peers have luxury cars/trucks), but showing up in an old beat up 4runner is still entirely acceptable, where any other 20+ yr old beater would be a red flag. Instead I get comments like āgreat vehicleā āthose things run forever!ā āI wish I had kept my old 4runner, loved that carā.
My uncle has a 4 runner right around the same year with the outstanding 4.0 V6. 300k and it still runs great. heās taken it big game hunting all over the country in all kinds of conditions with zero major issues.
Iāve always loved mongoose. My first real bike was a supergoose. They set the bar pretty high.
I still ride my Gary Fisher from ā98.
Thread is a little stale but I thought Iād post something new since Iām a car nut. I recently traded my 911 Targa for an M3 as a retirement downgrade⦠trying to be responsible. Turns out I miss it, the 911 was simply the best vehicle Iāve had. So I found a local allocation, at a steep premium and should have a new Targa GTS by Christmas. Itās a got the first ever 911 hybrid turbo. Basically an electric motor spins the turbo to eliminate lag. Pics of my build.
Every time I make a car decision with this as decision driver, I immediately regret it. Itās been 27 months since Iāve owned/driven a manual csold my Corvette and TRX around same time and itās killing me.
Congrats on new car! Let us know how it drives when it comes in. Whatās the build time, six months?
Yeah me too, I shouldnāt have sold my last one. How was that TRX?
itās going into immediate production. So should be done in December. I had to buy a spot/allocation for $20k. You can try to get one for MSRP but youāll never get it or wait years as people are willing to pay over. Supply/demand on limited models such as Targas and GT3s. My friend and I ordered at the same time, he went with a GT3 for $40k over. Here are pics of his build. His is due in Dec too.
I loved it. Ramās interior is the best, imo. I had a 2020 Rebel that I traded in for the 2022 TRX I ordered and then ended up getting a 2023 GMC Sierra, before coming back to a 2025 Rebel again. I got rid of the TRX because I was working from home and would only drive at nights to take kids to activities, which was mostly sitting in traffic. Had I known a few months later Iād take a new job and drive again, I would have kept it. I love my new Rebel tho. Itās quick for an I6 and interior has only improved. That said, thereās a few electronics issues and itās leaking coolant so I might swap it out for a Yukon AT4 shortly.
I just bought a home with 4 car garage, so feel I can finally justify having a move weekend car again.
I love that green, but I would absolutely choose the targa as well over GT3. Do you live somewhere you can drive it in December? Iām up in the mountains, with too much snow to drive between late November and February.
Oh yeah ⦠Tampa FL. Itās a year round car for me sir! Winter is actually nicer here for open top driving.
Not sure how I missed this thread when it started.
First: 1984 dodge ram. 318, 2 barrel, 3spd auto, 2wd
Best: 1994 ford ranger. 2.3l, 5spd, 2wd. Make this again, please Ford. Drop all the bullshit, screens, electronics. Go back to and build this.
I know why they canāt and wonāt, but its so frustrating that you canāt buy a basic truck that is reliable first and small.
