This was mine. 1984 Buick Skyhawk T-type with a 1.8l Turbo. I bought it for $1200 in 1991 and it had almost 90k miles on it. Front wheel drive with the slightest of hood scoops.
Ultimately the salty winter roads ate throught the bottom of the drivers side door and I ended up with a blue door from a '84 Cavalier (that’s when everything GM was interchangeable). Grey car, Blue Door, not sexy in the least.
Sold it right before I went into the Navy in late '93, turned out to be a real hunk of shit that I was constantly working on, but it taught me a lot. I’ll give it that.
I had a 1979 Pontiac Grand Prix. I bought it for $400 when I was 17 and didn’t even have a drivers license yet. I used to park it down the street so my Grandma – who I lived with at the time – wouldn’t know I was driving.
1966 Mustang Coupe, Candy Apple Red with a Parchment interior and red carpet (original interior was black). Straight 6 200 CID automatic. Not a beast or anything, but I adore the thing. It’s still in my garage.
It looks like this, but with white walls and no 289 badge or luggage rack.

1971 Buick Skylark…was my uncle’s car. Technically,wasn’t “mine”…but it was what I learned to drive in and drove it during the summers.
He still has the car…just needs a new transmission and some body work. I’ve actually considered submitting it to “Overhaulin” if they ever do a TX episode or something.

I’ll let you have a ride if you come to my house and work on it. It needs some body work and a front seal on the transmission. It’s definitely been stored too long.

My ex Father in law had a 69 white Skylark, not too far off from your '71. He dragged it instead of his 69 Goat.
Turned 16 and two weeks later my uncle, who was more like a brother, gave me a 1974 Formula Firebird with 18,000 mile on it. I still have it. It has since been highly modified and I race it down the 1/4 mile for fun.

No. Early 70’s Formulas’ had them. I believe 70-75. The only changes they made body wise through those years were the front end.
Since my uncle hooked me up when I was young and do to the fact that I’m a huge car guy, I made it a point to return the favor for my only son. When he turned 16 I handed him the keys to this…I built in away from the house for a year.
