I’ve used plenty of Biotest products over the years. I decided to try Brain Candy and I also caved in and bought some Z-12. I don’t have big sleep problems but usually wake up a couple times through the night and take a little while to go back to sleep.
Took 2 caps of Z-12 at about 7pm last night as I was putting the kiddo to sleep, I figured it would mellow me out for a couple hours while reading, nope I was in a deep sleep in about 45 minutes and bounced out of bed at 4:30 this morning. I NEVER sleep that deep and uninterrupted, and I have tried all the OTC stuff.
Slammed a Brain Candy and now… wow… is all I can say!!!
If these two continue to work like this, they will become staples.
Brain Candy is a pretty excellent supplement. I’ve found that it dusts off the mental cobwebs similar to Adderall, but without the dopamine rush, adrenaline and manic thought speed (which certainly are all part of the Adderall appeal). Because of that, it strikes me as being, by far, the better choice for tests and presentations… where you need to bring your “A game” without spiking your nerves.
My Z12 just arrived in the mail yesterday, so tonight will be my first night testing it out. My big problem is getting to sleep, since I get out of the gym at ~10:30pm. I’m hoping I can pop two caps on my way home, slam some food and have it mellow me out enough to get me to bed at a reasonable hour.
Glad to hear of your success with that particular supplement.

How long is your ride home lol? Z-12 kicks in fairly quickly and (in my experience) can actually be somewhat debilitating in the drowsiness it brings on.

A little under 10 minutes. I’m notoriously non-responsive to most OTC sleep aids, but it probably is the smarter move to wait until I get home tonight just to see how quickly it kicks in. If I do find it effective, it will absolutely become a staple since I hate counting sheep until 2am.
My only concern about not waiting until I get home is the indication to take on an empty stomach… I’d like to try and get SOME space between taking the pills and my (fairly large) PWO meal.
That being said, passing out at the wheel, crashing into a telephone pole and winding up in a coma isn’t my idea of a restful nap, so I’ll play it safe tonight.
z-12 is my favorite supplement and I don’t have a sleep problem. It’s my favorite because you feel it work, and of course the importance of deep refreshing sleep.

10 minutes shouldn’t be a big problem, but trying it at home the first time is probably still a smart move. It can be pretty potent though- I’ve completely fallen over while trying to hit the bathroom in the middle of the night after taking Z-12/ZMA before bed lol. Hope you see good results with it.
ehh, I’ve used it before prior to a lecture. Granted, probably so hyped and nervous it didn’t make me fall over. But, I find if used during the day doesn’t make me go to sleep, just have a bit less anxiety in general.

Depends how much you take… 1-2 caps is good for relaxation, 3+ tends to bring on more of a drowsiness.
Popped two, watched the new 30 Rock while eating my PWO meal and was out like a light shortly after.
Obviously, one night’s experience isn’t a particularly compelling review, but it definitely did seem to do what it’s supposed to. I actually ended up sleeping in later than I would’ve liked; I don’t set an alarm because I usually only sleep 6 or 7 hours, but with this I slept a solid 9. Those bastards are lucky that today is my day off shakes fist.
My circadian rhythm is so skewed from working lame graveyard shift duties as an undergrad that I have forgotten what it’s like to wake up in the early morning. Hopefully, I can get that back on track because being a night owl doesn’t really agree with me or my general productivity.
Oh, and fortunately taking two caps wasn’t debilitating at all. Rather than getting groggy and passing out, my brain was more like “OK, time for bed now” and rolled with it when I turned off the lights.
Z12 has failed to make me go to sleep at times that I really hoped it would… but once I get to sleep it’s completely deep and most times longer then I’d usually sleep. Sleep is the one thing in the game of recover that’s been hard for me cause I just enjoying staying up and playing music and what not… Anyways Brain Candy is awesome and with that I’m going to go take some Z12 and then BC in the morning.
Anyone notice heartbeat increase with ZMA? Maybe I’ll only take the Z12 and not the ZMA.
To review… Last night I took Z12 at 1am didn’t fall asleep til after 2am… then I got up at 9 and took a huge piss… went back to sleep and didn’t get up 'til 1:17 or so. So it puts me in a deep sleep but doesn’t make me fall asleep which may be a good or bad thing.
I think on the night’s when I have huge things the next morning I need to take Z12 earlier to relax more.
Took the Brain Candy at 1:45 then a MD shake at 2. It’s 2:30 here now and I’m feeling great!
