So im looking to buy my first pair of knee sleeves, im competing in november so they need to be IPF approved, looking to spend the lowest amount i can, even if they dont last an amazing amount of time, i will upgrade them in the future, any reccomendations? And also, im trying to find out but not sure how, does anyone know if the Tommy Kono knee sleeves are IPF approved? thanks
I own a pair of Titan Knee Sleeves and they have worked great for me, but they are also the only ones I have ever tried.
Are u from the UK by any chance? A lot of these knee sleeves people are mentioning i cant find for sale in the UK, i found some titan ones, but they were only selling XL
No I’m not, sorry. I would just look at the IPF approved list and google each brand to see if it were available/cost and make your decision based purely on that. I can’t see neoprene knee sleeves off of the approved list being too different from one another.
The Titan Yellow Jackets Gen 2 are only 30 dollars on Lifting large (US-based site), they only have larger sizes though.
You can’t go wrong with Rehands, but at the same price point, you’re best off buying SBDs. I was fortunate enough to find a brick and mortar shop near me that sold SBDs so I could try them on. I believe SBD is a US based company, the sleeves are good, and hold up well. I’ve had mine for a little over a year.
Yes, i dont think i am willing to spend that much at this time, plus i dont think you can get sbd in UK
SBD is made in the UK.
If you can’t afford decent sleeves then just don’t bother with them at all. Only the thicker and more expensive ones will add anything to your squat (and still not much).
^Agreed. If you haven’t already, I’d invest in a good belt before investing in knee sleeves.
I have a decent belt, strength shop 10mm, but im thinking knee sleeves more for knee health that more poundage,
Not a bad idea. My old belt is the strength shop 10mm and I love it. It’s held up well and I only had to stop using it because I outgrew it. Going to hand it down to my wife.
By any chance did u have a problem where the lever would get stuck if it fully extended? If the lever is fully opened it kind of gets jammed and i have to use a lot of force to un jam it, other than that i love it, do you think the strength shop knee sleeves would be good or still not worth it?
I use prong belts personally, so I have no experience with the lever.
I think the strength shop sleeves are a good economical option. And IPF approved as long as you get the inferno sleeves.
Yes, i think i will go with them, ill do a little more research, but am feeling discomfort in the knee joints when squatting and i feel a lot of it is because of cold joints, colour is a bit of a bummer but i think i would live with it Lol, thanks for your help
No problem!
Why am I the only person who got like 75lbs out of their SBD’s?!
Maybe placebo?
I have used lots of Titan stuff, i would go with that from looking at the list. You won’t be competing in the IPF, i imagine it will be the UK affilate like the USAPL. In the USAPL you are allowed many more products as they just have to meet the spec., not necessarily be on a list, unless you are going to nationals. So dig a little deeper in the rule book and you may find some more options. Good luck let us know how the meet goes.
Were they 3 sizes to small, and require you to use a squat suit slipper to get on? LOL
because you didn’t, lol. nobody does. placebo at best. even when neoprene sleeves are waaaay too small, the most I could see someone adding to their squat would be 5ish lbs. Maybe 10 if it’s a really strong mental cue for someone.
I just got some Titan Yellow Jackets - they’re not USPA legal, but I cant wait to use them for strongman and USAPL
