First Diet

I’ve been lifting weights for over a year now, and I’ve made some good progress in that time. The thing is however that I’ve been eating “normally” (basically eating whatever I like, whenever I’m hungry). Now I know I would have made even better progress if I’d been taking more care of my nutrition, but I wanted to take things one step at a time and get really into the habit of working out first.

I’m now ready to sort out my nutrition and take the next step forward. I’ve been reading some old T-Mag articles and I’ve just finished reading the 2-part article on the “anabolic diet”. I’m interested in giving this a try.

Now I’m thinking since the articles I read are pretty old, there are probably quite a few people posting on here with experience of the diet. So I’m here to pick your brains - what was good / bad about the diet? did you gain / lose according to your goals? Is it an easy diet for a “beginner” to get into and stick to?

Thanks in advance.

Just a suggestion, but try reading up on Testosterone’s own T-Dawg 2.0 diet. It’s a third generation low-carb diet that a lot of people are having excellent success with. You can find the article in issue 243.

T-mag wrote the T-Dawg 2.0 to improve upon the Anabolic Diet and other low carb diets, so I’d second the suggestion for the T-Dawg 2.0. You can find it here: Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION

Also read the “Foods that make you look good nekid” article and the “Missing Ingredient” article. That should get you started.

The “Diet Manifesto” article will give you a good overveiw of many diets, but I agree that T-dawg 2.0 is probably your best bet. It takes good ideas from many diets and combines them into one.

If you have a lot of spare time, I’d suggest reading the following articles to get a better understanding of the diet scene, they helped me a lot.

Fat Roundtable
Carbohydrate Roundtable
Solving the Post-workout Puzzle

They can be found using the T-mag search engine. Good luck!
